Maurice Jones-Drew said this week that he won’t apologize for questioning Jay Cutler’s toughness during the NFC Championship Game.
So it’s a good thing Cutler doesn’t want an apology.
“Jones-Drew . . . I didn’t ask him for an apology and don’t expect one,” Cutler said on WSCR in Chicago, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “He can continue playing his career and I’ll continue playing mine.”
Cutler does, however, say he was stunned by the harsh criticism that Jones-Drew and others leveled at him on Twitter while Cutler stood on the sideline with a knee injury in the second half of the Bears’ NFC Championship Game loss.
“It was like wildfire,” Cutler said of the reaction. “Like I said the whole Twitter thing, as soon as you put something out there, it’s an immediate impact. I was a little bit taken back by the whole question of the toughness and stuff, but at the end of the day those guys in the locker room know what I am about and they have my back.”
And as long as Cutler’s teammates have his back, he doesn’t much care what Jones-Drew thinks of him.
