Falcons’ Corey Peters carted off practice field

The Atlanta Falcons may have had a significant loss at today’s practice.

Corey Peters, a starting defensive tackle, suffered an apparent left leg injury and was taken off the field on a cart this morning, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

There’s no word on the extent of Peters’ injury, but Falcons coach Mike Smith is expected to give an update today.

The Falcons drafted Peters in the third round of last year’s draft, and he played in all 16 games, starting 15.

UPDATE:  Coach Mike Smith says that Peters won’t need surgery, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.  He’ll be back in a few weeks, according to Scout.com.

  1. He will have plenty of time to rest and heal this season as the FAILCANTS will implode as usual and be pretenders….no use risking further injury as you battle Cam for last place in the NFC South…

Really? Another player from an opposing team is injured and you find it hilarious? Lets get a little perspective here. This is a game in which we all have our own “team” that we cheer for, but to find humor in someones injuries is taking it a little too far.

I mean, if you were to injure your leg and couldn’t stand on the back of the garage truck anymore, much less walk up to my driveway to get my trash can, do you think I would be sitting here laughing at you???

  4. Wow saints fans. A man gets injured and you laugh? You are real cool. I thought steeler fans were bad. Well they are but your a very close second. Who dey (bengals) falicants (aints) can you be original or do you just steal everyone elses stuff? It must be a black and “gold” thing.
