One of the more curious draft picks of the Josh McDaniels era could possibly be done with the team.

2009 second-round pick Richard Quinn was waived/injured on Monday by Denver. He will revert to injured reserve if no team claims him.

McDaniels traded up to get Quinn, who was known as a blocking tight end well below the draft radar. He didn’t make much of a impact in two seasons (even as a blocking tight end), but was expected to have a decent role under John Fox before hurting his knee two weeks ago.

Quinn’s rookie deal ends after 2012. It wouldn’t be a total shock if someone claimed him, with the plan to stash him on I.R. later.
