Quietly unclaimed from the 2011 free-agent market is Brodie Croyle, a former third-round pick of the Chiefs who started six games in 2007.
Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals are expected to sign Croyle on Tuesday, given injuries to 2010 rookies John Skelton and Max Hall (or is it Max Skelton and John Hall?).
Skelton sprained an ankle in the most recent preseason game against the Packers, and Hall suffered a separation shoulder in practice on Monday. (We’d hate to see how badly Hall would have been injured if he hadn’t been wearing a no-touchy jersey.)
The only healthy quarterbacks currently are Kevin Kolb and Richard Bartel.
Somers says that coach Ken Whisenhunt will keep three quarterbacks on the roster, a lesson the coach learned in 2007, when the only two signal-callers he was carrying (Kurt Warner and Matt Leinart) were injured.
