Pryor says he thought he was heading to Miami

Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor joins PFT (Almost) Live today, via an interview that was taped earlier this morning.

He says during the interview that he hadn’t heard at all from the Raiders before the supplemental draft, and that he was thinking of a couple of other teams as the process unfolded.

“I thought Miami or maybe the Redskins,” Pryor said.  “I talked to Miami a bunch of times.  That’s where I thought I was gonna end up going, but I’m happy where I’m at right now.  I couldn’t be happier, and I definitely appreciate the opportunity to play for the Oakland Raiders.”

Though Pryor continues to say that he’ll move to a new position if asked, he prefers not to think about that possibility until it happens.  Asked to identify his biggest strength if he stays at quarterback, Pryor said, “I don’t think it’s a question of ‘If I stay.’ I will stay.”

So what can Raiders fans expect from their newest member, who’ll fly to Oakland once his contract is finalized?

“A lot of wins,” Pryor said.  “Just win baby.  That’s what Al Davis says and that’s all I want to do. . . .  I just want to be the best, and I just want to win.”

Pryor has been saying all the right things.  If he can do all the right things on the field, he’ll get those wins.

  1. Al Davis never ceases to amaze. He throws away draft picks like they’re nothing. I can’t beleive they don’t have a 2nd or 4th round pick next year and they give up their 3rd rounder for this experiment.

  2. I wish I could run a sub 4.4 40. Al Davis would pay me $700,000 just to show up.

  3. Terrelle Pryor is so fast he can heave up a bomb and run down the field to catch it before it lands. So he doesn’t need to choose a position.

  4. ESPN likes to remind the country that the Raiders now have no 3rd rounder next year, along with a 4th,..and a 2nd,…well the second was part of the Seymour deal, hes a friggin stud probowler and scariest dude in the NFL,..and with the losses of Nambdi and Gallery, those 3rd and 4ths are being returned as compensitory picks,..but BSPN doesnt want you to know that,..it kills them that the guy they couldnt stop talking about went to the one team they hate. And we out here love it!!!

  5. I can’t wait until the Al Davis/Terrel Pryor press conference. I want to see if anything falls off of Al Davis’ decrepid face.

  6. Miami tried to put in a first round bid, but Pryor was already into the third round by that time. That’s how fast he is.

  7. he might be fast but he can barely grow facial hair….maybe cause it blows off when he runs…

  8. Miami has too many talented EGO maniacs in their city already

TP will be taking his talents to Oakland

  9. Hey a big fast athlete playing QB. If he could play at the college level that must mean he is a good fit at the professional level….

  10. Why is a third round pick in a supplemental draft getting such incredible publicity? He couldn’t get any more publicity unless he was a third string quarterback for the Broncos.

  11. Why would he want to go to a Hell-Hole like Miami?… He’s already stated the Raiders was his favorite team growing up.

Get over it already, he didn’t go to your favorite team he went to mines… BooooHooooo!!!!!

  12. A little perspective here… Oakland was going to take Colin Kaepernick early second roung this year and the 49ers snagged him. If Pryor was in this draft, would he have carried a grade similar to Kaepernick? Still don’t think the Raiders needed him and they can’t afford gambles right now, but if you put him in last years draft a 3rd round pick was about right for him. If it had been anyone else but the Raiders drafting him, everyone would have been ok with it.

  13. Raiders wanted speed at a position they never really had it before. Good strategy, need a speedy QB to make up for the holes in the OL. He will be running plenty, behind the line of scrimmage!
I hope he can throw on the run.

  14. Welcome to The 3 time SB Champion Oakland Raiders –

Now Can the Jets, Eagles, Miami, Denver, Lion, Bengals, Cardinals, Bears, Viking, Seattle, Rams, Chief, Charger, Titans, Texans, Colts, or Bills Fans can welcome him like that????????

    GO RAIDERS!!

  15. He will compete to back up Andrew Luck next year.

i cant see that. the Raiders would have to get a top 5 pick, i think Buffalo, Seattle, Denver, San Francisco, possibly Miami and Washington and Cincinnatti will be worse than Oakland. i think Luck will be a Bill or 49er, but i would like to see him in Washington, but i think they win 5 or 6 games. hopefully they will be able to get Landry Jones or Barkley if they cant get Luck.

Whats the difference, both Oakland and Miami are where football players go to die.

    Any rings lately philly fan?

  17. destroyedbydansnyder – Trust Me he’s sooo happy he’s not going to a organization that haven’t done squat since the team he signed too killed you in the SB.

    Precisely.

  19. going to fly to oakland when a contrat is finalized? wft? get your ass there now, so you can practice the same day a contract is finalized. I think he should play the entire final preseason game at QB.

They’ll have an additional 3rd and a 5th for compensation in losing Asomugha and Miller to Free Agency…but agreed. Until a GM gets there with a decent blue print to stockpile picks, get a coaching continuity of some sort and a system with pieces that fit – they are stuck with overpaying vets, then eventually losing them and re-hashing QB’s.

The upside is that his suspension wont count against the 53 man roster and he can get into the playbook. Another upside is his speed-skill set could be used in gadget plays, and Jackson is known for that every now and then.

  21. I usually can’t stand hobart, but that 3rd round comment was pretty damn funny. Props to you sir.

  22. What’s with all this Andrew Luck to the Raiders talk? I’ll wait ’til I see his 40 time before jumping on that bandwagon.

January 31, 1988 Washington Redskins* 42–10 defeat Denver Broncos

January 26, 1992 Washington Redskins 37-24 Defeat Buffalo Bills

Hate on the skins if you must but get your facts straight you idiot.

  24. @p4hbiz

Before you go slamming the Skins about not doing squat since they lost to the Raiders in a Super Bowl almost 30 years ago, you are aware that they’ve won two Super Bowls since then, right? Now what they haven’t been able to do is set the record for most consecutive seasons with double digit losses. Could you do some research and tell us who holds that record? Thanks.

  25. Washing is a dump of a city and Team, I remember LT breaking your QB legs,.. But winning SB is nothing you guy’s do well.

  26. ive never been to washing. Where is that exactly? i remember your coach breaking another one of your coaches nose. oakland keeping it classy

  27. TP was confused. He meant to say that he thought he was heading to the UNIVERSITY of Miami on a larger contract than he got from the Raiders.

  28. I thought Pryor was going to Miami too. Made sense with how awful Miami’s QB situation is.

I guess I kinda understand the Raiders hate, but there’s no way the Raiders are in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

Miami, on the other hand… playing the Jets & Pats twice… with no home field advantage… and a shaky QB situation…. yeeeeesh… not looking good…

  29. I wonder if all the constant Al Davis bashers even know how much he did for the NFL to make it the great entity it is today. If not, they should study up on it a bit.

  30. Drafting Pryor in the 3rd Rd = Fantasy Football Guy who drafts top D in 4th round and Top K in 6th round because he’s just too scared he’ll miss out one round later

  31. why would he think redskins want him? waste one draft pick for a worse then next year top 3 qb picks is dumb. we had enough rb, wr or even cb, he wont fit anywhere in our team, another JC isn’t needed

  32. Kid, if you thought ANYONE but the Raiders was going to take you, then you don’t know football. Al Davis has been pleasuring himself to your 40 yard dash times for some time now. Trust me, there was never any other outcome possible.

  33. @ p4hbiz

“But winning SB is nothing you guy’s do well.”

Do you even read your stuff before you post? Any chance there’s a p4hbiz to English dictionary available because most of what you write makes no sense. It’s one thing to make a stupid statement. The real skill is to make a completely obtuse statement in defense of the stupid one. BRAVO!!! Normally, I’d highlight the mistakes. Quite frankly, the quote is one big mistake. I wouldn’t know where to start.

  34. If its Raiders its news. If its Raiders it lights up the message board. Thanks for chiming in all our haters. We love our haters. Seymour is worth the draft picks. And getting Pryor now is a plus. Hes our 3rd rd pick next year AND he learns the system a year early! Win-Win!
    Raider Nation!!!!!!

Big tex little _ _ _ _ , you realize that was over 20 years ago, right?

  36. Other than Steeler or NE fans….any bragging about how ‘strong’ your franchise is..is pure BS.

Raiders, Dolphins, Redskins…you fans all speak like you won something in last 5-10 years…Raiders & Skins, say hello to jets as laughingstocks…all talk, no titles…Miami fans, you’re well on your way to joining Mo & Larry above…as your inept GM and clueless owner demolish your franchise.

  37. @radrntn

Uh, dude, p4hbiz was ragging on the Skins for not accomplishing anything since they lost to the Raiders in 1984. I correctly pointed out that they had actually won the Super Bowl not just once, but twice, in the interim. Meanwhile, the Raiders’ franchise set the record for consecutive seasons with double digit losses. You realize that there was a period in the 2000’s where Oakland’s record was worse than the Lions’, don’t you. It’s not a good idea to complain about some one else’s house being messy when your’s is knee-deep in garbage.
