With just 11 days to go before the season opener, the Tennessee Titans may finally be making progress toward getting their best player in the fold.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that the Titans and Chris Johnson’s agent, Joel Segal, exchanged ideas and proposals on Wednesday, and the two sides made positive movement toward finding common ground for the first time.

With a base salary of $800,000 this season, Johnson has insisted he won’t show up unless he gets a huge raise. The Titans have said they’re willing to make him the highest-paid running back in football, but they want him to show up for work first. Until Wyatt’s report today, there were few signs of progress toward any resolution of the standstill.

Johnson was in a cranky mood today, telling fans to “STFU” on Twitter. But the Titans may make him a very happy (and very rich) man soon.
