As Titans running back Chris Johnson prepares to play the Ravens on Sunday, he’s thinking back to a playoff meeting between the Titans and Ravens after the 2008 season -- when Johnson says the Ravens tried to hurt him.

They were trying to hurt me a little bit,” Johnson said today. “But the play I actually got hurt on, it was a fair play, somebody landed on my ankle the wrong way and I fell back the wrong way. It was a fair play when I got hurt.”

That ankle injury forced Johnson out of that playoff game against the Ravens before halftime. He had 100 yards from scrimmage before he got hurt (72 yards rushing and 28 yards receiving), but the Titans’ offense was ineffective without him, and the Ravens won 13-10.

Despite the injury, Johnson said he doesn’t view the Ravens as a dirty team and he’s not out for revenge.

“I really don’t have any carry-over from then, that was two years ago,” he said. “I’m just trying to win the game.”

If the Titans are going to win on Sunday, they’re going to need a better game than Johnson gave them in Week One, when he carried nine times for 24 yards.
