Despite the fact that the Titans fear receiver Kenny Britt will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, the team has said nothing about his status in the wake of an MRI that was expected to be conducted on Monday.

But the Titans are beginning to line up replacements, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

Per Wyatt, Donnie Avery and Buster Davis are possible candidates.

It could be that the Titans have decided to keep the truth about Britt under wraps until they can get a replacement signed. Once it’s known that Britt won’t be back, the leverage for the available free agents goes up.

Then again, how much leverage does a guy who doesn’t have a job really have?

Another possibility could be the addition of a receiver via trade. In that regard, keeping the official word on Britt’s status a secret could make it easier to get a deal done. Besides, we can’t think of any team that currently is trying to dump via trade a wideout who would be good enough to make a difference in Tennessee.
