As things keep getting worse for the Indianapolis Colts, two defensive starters were placed on injured reserve today.

The Colts announced that linebacker Gary Brackett and strong safety Melvin Bullitt are both done for the season.

Brackett was one of the few Colts who had a good game in Week One against the Texans, making five solo tackles and intercepting a pass, but he suffered a shoulder injury in that game that required surgery, and he won’t be able to return this season. Bullitt started the first two games of the season but also suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery and is also done for 2011.

With the two open roster spots, the Colts signed linebacker A.J. Edds off the New England practice squad and signed quarterback Dan Orlovsky to the active roster.

The Colts also announced that they waived quarterback Mike Hartline and linebacker Caleb Campbell from the practice squad and added wide receiver Jeremy Ross and offensive lineman Matt Murphy to the practice squad.
