Raiders running back Darren McFadden, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and Bills kicker Rian Lindell have been named AFC players of the week after leading their teams to victories on Sunday.
McFadden exploded for 171 yards on 19 carries, with two touchdowns, in a 34-24 win over the Jets. It was the top rushing performance in the league this season, and McFadden now leads the league with 393 rushing yards.
Lewis had 10 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble that led to a Haloti Ngata touchdown in the Ravens’ 37-7 win at St. Louis. Lewis became the first player in NFL history with 40 sacks and 30 interceptions, and he now has eight defensive player of the week awards in his career.
Lindell made the 28-yard game-winning field goal as time expired in the Bills’ 34-31 win over the Patriots, his 12th career game-winning field goal. He also made a 42-yarder at the end of the first half.
The other nominees for offensive player of the week were Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, Bills running back Fred Jackson, Ravens receiver Torrey Smith and Steelers receiver Mike Wallace.
The other nominees for defensive player of the week were Bills cornerback Drayton Florence, Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney, Raiders defensive end Jarvis Moss and Browns defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin.
The other nominees for special teams player of the week were a pair of punters, Denver’s Britton Colquitt and Baltimore’s Sam Koch.
