After blowing double-digit leads for three straight weeks, the Vikings nearly came back from a 12-point deficit to beat the Chiefs.

But the Vikings failed. And in failing they’ve fallen to 0-4, giving them an edge over the Chiefs in the quest for Andrew Luck.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that the Vikings would take Luck if the Vikings “earn” the first pick in the draft, especially since they used the 12th pick in the draft to take Christian Ponder.

And that’s another reason to put Donovan McNabb on the bench, and to see what Ponder can do. If he can’t turn things around, then maybe it makes sense to, as the kids say, “Suck for Luck.”

Ryan Succop kicked five field goals for the Chiefs, but the scoring was completed with a 52-yard touchdown pass from Matt Cassel to Dwayne Bowe.

Adrian Peterson gained 80 yards on 23 carries for the Vikings, and McNabb threw for 202 yards, completing 18 of 30 passes. Cassel threw for 260 yards, with 107 to Bowe and 91 to Steve Breaston.

The Vikings got to the Kansas City 41 with two minutes to play. But four straight incompletions from McNabb ended it.
