Dolphins wideout Brandon Marshall entered Sunday tied for the “official” lead in dropped passes according to Stats Inc.
Things only got worse against the Chargers. In perhaps the key play of the game, Marshall dropped a would-be long touchdown in the third quarter against San Diego.
“I lost it in the sun,’' Marshall said via Dave Hyde of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Hyde sees that play as emblematic of Miami’s struggles all year. They don’t even know who their “good” players are, and the ones that are supposed to be standouts have stood out for the wrong reason.
“The play that sticks out to me is that third down coming out [for the second half]. That would’ve been a first down,” Marshall said about another drop he had. ""It starts with myself. I’ve got to be better.”
Marshall’s overall numbers aren’t so bad, but he’s had key drops on potential big plays and in the end zone. He’s hardly been Miami’s biggest problem this year, but he hasn’t exactly been part of the solution either.
