Nothing has been going right for the Eagles over the last three weeks, but they may have dodged a bullet with Trent Cole.

The defensive end, one of the few Eagles defenders who has distinguished himself positively this season, left Sunday’s loss to the 49ers with a calf injury and early reports were full of doom and gloom about his availability for the rest of the season. Cole had an MRI and, per Jay Glazer of FOX, those fears were not realized.

“There are fears Trent Cole is done for the year but I’m hearing an MRI showed a Grade 2 calf strain, which prob puts him out 3 weeks.”

That’s not exactly good news as the Eagles need all the help they can get on defense right now, but three weeks is obviously better than the rest of the season. The Eagles travel to Buffalo and Washington in the next two weeks before getting their bye week. If Glazer’s report is correct, Cole would be back for the second half of the season.

Now the Eagles just need to right the ship so that he is returning to a team that still has something to play for the rest of the way. Frustration with new defensive coordinator Juan Castillo is mounting quickly in Philadelphia after three straight blown leads have led to losses.
