Arian Foster’s 2011 season got off to a few false starts because of a hamstring injury, but he didn’t miss a beat once he got cleared for a full return to action.
Foster ran for 155 yards on 30 carries in Houston’s 17-10 victory over the Steelers and was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts. Foster, who became the first player in the league to average five yards a carry on 30 or more carries this season, scored on a 42-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter provided the Texans with their margin of victory.
Aaron Rodgers earned the NFC honors for his work in Green Bay’s 49-23 win against Denver. Rodgers became the first player in NFL history to throw for 400 yards in a game in which he also threw four touchdowns and ran for two scores. It is the second time this season Rodgers has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week and his work thus far this season has him at or near the top of anyone’s very premature list of MVP candidates.
