Arian Foster, Aaron Rodgers named offensive players of the week

Arian Foster’s 2011 season got off to a few false starts because of a hamstring injury, but he didn’t miss a beat once he got cleared for a full return to action.

Foster ran for 155 yards on 30 carries in Houston’s 17-10 victory over the Steelers and was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts. Foster, who became the first player in the league to average five yards a carry on 30 or more carries this season, scored on a 42-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter provided the Texans with their margin of victory.

Aaron Rodgers earned the NFC honors for his work in Green Bay’s 49-23 win against Denver. Rodgers became the first player in NFL history to throw for 400 yards in a game in which he also threw four touchdowns and ran for two scores. It is the second time this season Rodgers has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week and his work thus far this season has him at or near the top of anyone’s very premature list of MVP candidates.

  1. Aaron “Shredder” Rodgers absolutely torched the broncos and is going to do the same to the falcons this sunday. Kiss the belt haters, GB 49-ATL 24.

    It should have been Eli….

It’s not the “NFL Player who most closely resembles Corky from Life Goes On” award but rest assured Eli a shoe in for that one.

I’m a Giants fan and no way should it have been Eli this week. Aaron Rodgers had 6 TDs…..that’s an automatic vote for player of the week. I mean come on.

Which brings me to my second point, kids:Don’t do Crack!!!

  5. A-Rod is on fire. Hard to find another MVP candidate right now. The Falcons might be in for a long night just like the playoff game.

  6. Nobody has ran on the Steelers like that in years! Foster and the Texans O Line are the real deal.

  7. It brings a tear to my eye…not the Arian Foster thing…the comparison of Eli to Corky. Hilarious!!

  8. Foster is the best running back in the league
right now, as well as all of last year. CJ, you’re
    just over paid.

  9. Not sure if it was mentioned here but Rodgers was also named NFC OPOM for the month of September and Sean Lee was NFC DPOM for September.
