Richard Seymour fined $15,000 for hit on Matt Schaub

Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour has been fined once again.

Seymour was fined $15,000 for hitting Texans quarterback Matt Schaub below the knees during the Raiders’ win over the Texans on Sunday.

It’s the second week in a row that Seymour has been fined $15,000. Last week the fine was broken down into $7,500 apiece for two different hits against the Patriots, one on Tom Brady and one on BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Last year Seymour was fined $25,000 for punching Ben Roethlisberger.

All the fines aren’t likely to make much of a difference to Seymour. A $15,000 fine is one-tenth of 1 percent of his 2011 salary of $15 million.

  1. I saw the hit and didn’t think it was deliberate. Was trying to get to him and fell and ended up hitting him low. Good thing Schaub didn’t get injured by it.

And that uppercut on Roethlisberger was awesome, I’m sure he’d do it again in a heartbeat.

  2. Seymour is not a scumbag or a dirty player. He plays the game hard, and sometime with too much emotion. He has made some dumb penalties as a Raider, but he has also been a valuable leader

    Scumbag Dirty Player !!!
You wish you had him on your team, just like all the other teams in the league”!!!”.

    You go, Big Sey.

Wow, what a loser. Wow, we are amazing. Jealous?

Yeah.. sure looked amazing on opening week…

  5. Stunning….he was falling down and fell on Schaub’s knees and wound up taking him down….ZERO intent to hit low. The League’s fines are getting ridiculous. They’re supposed to penalize those who intentionally try to injure or who are blatantly careless…this was neither. There was no way for him to avoid the legs from where he was falling.

  6. My biggest issue with Seymour was his uninspired play after his big extension. There were rumblings that he was a dirty player. But this is a whole different level. I hope he cleans up his act and doesn’t end his career with this type of reputation.

Wow, if you’re this much of a d0uch* to complete strangers, I feel sorry for your friends.

Wow, you probably don’t have any.

We all read your comments and think, “wow, 7thlombardiontheway is not just a tool… He’s the whole toolbox!”

  9. The Seymour fine is one thousandth of his salary.

Or …. the fine is like someone making $150,000 a year being fined $150. It’s next to nothing.

Or to put it into terms most PFT posters can understand it’s like fining someone who makes $35,000, $35. It’s lunch money.

  10. the people who say dirty player or scum bag have not even seen the play in question..
Seymour simply tackled Shaub…It was not a hard hit.
It was stupid, This si the NFL covering up trying to cheat against the Raiders, cause that play gave texans life

My buddy and I used to play Stratomatic Football all the time, till the friggin sun came up and beyond.

    Great game.

  12. Remember the movie, “The Last Boy Scout”? A player brings a gun onto the field..??

This is going to happen eventually. Seymour have a license to carry???

  13. I’m sure if Al Davis were to here, he’d say “Playing rough is part of the game, gimme a break. I’ll pay the fine for ya Rich! Now get out there and Just Win Baby!”

    Commitment to Excellence!!!

  14. well if seymour gets the chance to slap big ben again, and drop him to the ground, the entire raider nation will pay his fine….that was the play of year last year.

  15. Seymour’s hit on Schaub was out of the strike zone, but Big Dick was going to the ground and Schaub still had the ball in his hands. Seymour just tackled him. That shouldn’t be illegal.

  16. What do you expect, it’s the Raiders. They’d have their players stick shivs in their wrist tape to stab their opponents with if they could get away with it.

James Harrison was a hard hitter that scared Goodell. Seymour is a Raider. That says it all.
