Peyton Hillis, Asante Samuel could be available

Agent Kennard McGuire said Hillis was too sick to play in the Sept. 25 game against Miami. McGuire was concerned that because Hillis had been weakened he “could have hurt himself and the team.” McGuire disputes reports Hillis’ absence was connected to him seeking a contract extension from the Browns.(AP Photo/Amy Sancetta, File)

Perhaps Carson Palmer won’t be the only big name traded on Tuesday. A few other stars may be available, even if a trade is considered unlikely.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN said on air that Peyton Hillis could be dealt in Cleveland.

“There’s a sense they could be persuaded. We’ll see,” Mort said.

The Browns said publicly on Monday that Hillis, who has a balky hamstring right now, was not available.

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports that the Eagles have made it known Asante Samuel is available. Samuel was also available in August, and no deal happened.

The report indicates the Eagles are looking for veteran defensive players in the front seven rather than draft picks.
