Pryor could make his debut for Raiders on Sunday

AP

Quarterback Kyle Boller reportedly will get the start for the Raiders on Sunday.  Newcomer Carson Palmer reportedly won’t.

Lost in the shuffle is rookie Terrelle Pryor, the quarterback for whom the Raiders gave up a third-round pick in the 2012 draft, via the 2011 supplemental draft.  Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Raiders have installed specific packages for Pryor, who could make his debut against the Chiefs.

Pryor emerged less than two weeks ago from a five-game suspension.  He was added to the active roster on Monday.

Pryor and the team repeatedly have said that he is a quarterback, and that he won’t be moved to a different position.  Coach Hue Jackson said in August that Pryor would make his debut in the preseason finale, but Pryor didn’t play.  He remains a long-term project at the position, and the arrival of Palmer likely has extended that timetable even deeper into the decade.

  1. I wouldn’t get too caught up in this…Pryor is a project QB who will take a lot of time before we see if he was worth an investment. If they include him in a few plays, they’ll probably be wildcat plays or other sneaky ones.

  2. Too bad Jason Campbell got hurt. That injury cost us a couple of high round picks and most likely a easy win tomorrow.

No faith in Kyle Boller…fully expect to hit the bye week at 4-3 if Kyle Bollet starts…”Disaster in cleats”.

  3. I’ve done a complete 180 degree turn on the Raiders in the last couple of years. Where I once thought they all should be locked up without parole, I now have a soft spot in my heart for the team, marvel at their relative success, and hope they overcome this setback at quarterback. While Palmer, Boller, and Pryor are an unlikely combination, I hope they can find what it takes to win.

  4. I used to enjoy when raiders weren’t covered in the media too much…this palmer trade has brought them into the limelight of everyone talking about whos gonna go under center.

If pryor goes in its wildcat or halfback pass back to qb

  5. It would awesome to see Pryor play… Just another reason to for me to want to see the Raiders play. Yes, he is a project but he definately can change up the game.

  6. Fan – “Terrelle Pryor lacks the skillset and mental makeup to be an NFL quarterback, let alone a franchise QB – here’s why…”

Raider fan – “OMG, haters! ya’ll just hate on us raaaaider nation! HATERS.”

  7. @ tebow man your laughing at pryor and your team has tbow know that is something to laugh about he is a joke ,pryor has more talent in his pinky finger than t bust could ever have .raiders baby

  8. How could he be a bust when they only gambled a third rounder on him? They’ll have time to develop him if Palmer plays well for a few years.

  9. With the Frye’s, Grads, Walters, Bollers, and Brennans of the sorry Raider QB world, Pryor might just be what they are looking for. Seems like a talented kid.

This team actually had Colt Brennan in camp last year, I’m not joking, COLT BRENNAN. That’s how sad the QB’s situation was aside from JC.

Colt Brennan recently got dropped by the UFL and couldn’t get a tryout in the Lingerie Football League.

  10. Lol you guys are clowns, first you say Palmer will start before his first practice started, then you say Boller will get the nod and now you swear it’s going to be Pryor

Hue Jackson has got you all fooled

  11. Sellout tomorrow in Oakland ..since I can’t go and have to work @ least I get to dvr the game and watch it later …I know, right? A raider fan that works ….

  12. Pryor’s another Tim Tebow. Great runner, can’t throw.

Still better than Carson Palmer who can’t run or throw.

  13. I can’t think of a team that has 4 signed QBs that are all so different from each other. Which means that Jackson will have to clear the decks of the ones that don’t fit the offense well after the O is adjusted to suit Palmer.

  14. Raiders nation is such a joke. The DA’s lose a 3rd for Pryor who will transfer and fail at WR in less than 2 years and lose a 1st and 2nd for Palmer. As far as we know he will up and decide his contract means nothing after this season.

So next year, they have a 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th since they picked up Curry as well? McFadden will last 2 more years at the rate they’re using him, they have no WR’s, and the D-line is all they have going for them. Good news though, with the rebuilding they need they basically have no draft for 2012. At least we know Denver won’t be in the cellar long.

At least jackson is continuing their losing ways…

  15. The only thing the Raiders should focus on tomorrow is winning the game, no matter who starts at QB. Since McFadden has been a Raider, he’s had some of his best games against the Chiefs. I’d hand it off to him heavily to take some pressure off Boller. Boller isn’t going to win the game single-handedly. He’s going to need help, which I think the Raiders can give him.

Also, I am a Raiders fan, but it kind of makes me sad to see other Raiders fans here, and in other articles, writing about how the Raiders are going to destroy the Chiefs. You’re forgetting that the Raiders and Chiefs are a pretty intense rivals and their games are usually settled by less than a touchdown.

Missing Janikowski could actually hurt the Raiders more than who’s starting at QB.

  16. Honest question, and really not sure about the answer here. Does the arrival of Carson Palmer help or hinder the development of Pryor? Not sure how I feel about it. I can understand why the Raiders picked up Palmer, but is it really the best move for Pryors career?

  17. This is the week that the shine gets knocked off Al’s memorial bandwagon. It will take a decade of proper management to undo what has been done to the Rayduhs by Al and his minions.

For the love of God don’t use “Jets,” “draft” and “success” in the same sentence. It’s like dividing by zero.

He’s got all the same skillz as Cam Newton except he’s a better athlete.

    _____________________________

I’d disagree. I would say he has similar skills. But he IS a better PERSON. Selling crap to get a tattoo (Pryor) vs stealing another students work (Newton)….not even close.

  23. this guy should definitely move to WR. hes 6-6 with 4.3 speed. he would be pretty beast.

  24. I think it’s a great idea to find a way to get Pryor in the field some way on Sunday. Regardless of where he lines up, he’s a playmaker, someone the defense has to watch out for. Even if he doesn’t touch the ball, he could open up an opportunity for someone else to make a big play.
