The Redskins got their first touchdown of the day on their second possession of the third quarter, but they lost Tim Hightower.
Hightower immediately grabbed his left knee upon getting tackled after a four-yard gain and needed help to get off the field. He had been the best thing about the Redskins offense in the first half and left the game with 88 yards on 17 carries.
A long completion from John Beck to Logan Paulsen got the ‘Skins on the doorstep a few plays later and Beck ran the ball in from four yards out to make the score 16-13 Panthers seven minutes into the third quarter.
Hightower couldn’t put any weight on his knee once he got to the sideline. He was eventually helped onto a cart and driven off the field. Ryan Torain has taken over at tailback and, even though there’s no official word on Hightower’s status, it looks like he’ll be there the rest of the way.
