Saints running back Mark Ingram suffered a bruised heel late in Sunday’s blowout win over the Colts, highlighting one of the biggest problems with using a three-man tailback rotation and having only three active tailbacks on the roster.

But the news is good -- or at least not as bad as it could have been -- for the Saints. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Ingram is day-to-day, icing the heel and taking regular treatment.

There’s a chance he’ll miss Sunday’s visit to St. Louis, a game in which the Saints don’t particularly need the 2009 Heisman winner.

Ingram has 329 yards rushing and three touchdowns in his rookie season, sharing touches with Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas.
