No, the Cardinals aren’t going to bench Kevin Kolb

Ken Whisenhunt said after Arizona’s latest disappointing loss that he will examine what the Cardinals are doing wrong, and what players are doing it.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic took the logical next step and asked if that meant Whiz was considering benching Kevin Kolb.

“I’m not saying that,” Whisenhunt said.

The answer is no surprise, of course. Kolb is locked in as the starting quarterback long term because of his contract. And it’s not like the Cardinals have any other options to replace Kolb.

The fact that the question is legitimate says a lot about this Cardinals season. Kolb’s protection has been sloppy and it’s not the greatest wideout group after Larry Fitzgerald, but Kolb simply has missed too many throws.

Kolb and presumably Whisenhunt should still have plenty of time to get things turned around.
