Was it really only a few weeks ago that the Redskins were 3-1 and in first place in the NFC East? It’s hard to believe we ever thought Washington was a good team, because right now the Redskins are a mess.
The Redskins turned in a lousy performance in Toronto today, getting blanked by the Bills 23-0. It’s clear that whether John Beck or Rex Grossman is the quarterback, the Redskins’ offense isn’t going to do much of anything.
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has promoted Beck ahead of Grossman on his depth chart, but it’s easy to envision Shanahan changing his mind again after Beck’s showing on Sunday: Beck completed 20 of 33 passes for 208 yards with two interceptions. Seven of the Redskins’ 11 offensive drives gained less than 10 yards.
The Redskins are now 3-4 and on a three-game losing streak. They may have looked like playoff contenders in September, but as we turn the calendar to November they look like the worst team in the NFC East.
As for the Bills, Ryan Fitzpatrick turned in a good game after his big payday, and Fred Jackson had 120 yards rushing and 74 yards receiving. Buffalo is a real contender. The same can’t be said for Washington.
