The Miami Dolphins haven’t been a particularly interesting team to watch this season, but it sounds like things are getting interesting behind the scenes.
Jeff Darlington of NFL.com reports that a confrontation between Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis and Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall resulted in Davis wanting to rip Marshall’s head off.
According to the report, Marshall was talking trash “and crossed the line,” although it’s not clear exactly what Marshall said to set Davis off.
Davis was left home from the trip to Kansas City for today’s game against the Chiefs for what the Dolphins described as non-injury reasons. According to Darlington, Davis has been telling people it’s because of that altercation — but others around the Dolphins are saying that Davis is lying and he knows that’s not the real reason he was kept home from Kansas City.
So what is the reason Davis didn’t make the trip? Who knows? All we know is that, on the basis of this report, the Dolphins are every bit as dysfunctional behind closed doors as they are on the field.
