X-rays were negative, which is positive.

The MRI wasn’t as positive.

Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has a high ankle sprain.

Per Fowler, it’s a grade one sprain. Peterson will wear a boot for a few days, and he could start “light football activity” by Friday. The Vikings travel to Atlanta in Week 12.

Still, with the Vikings at 2-8, it’s hard to justify putting him at risk of further injury until he’s truly healthy.

UPDATE 2:00 p.m. ET: A league source tells PFT that Peterson most likely will miss at least Sunday’s game against the Falcons.
