Bears not expected to claim McNabb

It’s starting to look like Donovan McNabb’s next employer may be ESPN or NFL Network, rather than an NFL team.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen writes that he “absolutely does not expect” the Bears to show interest in McNabb on waivers or if he clears waivers.

While a team could always surprise us, the logical places for McNabb have been eliminated. Houston isn’t interested. Dallas has said they won’t claim him. Mort feels strongly the Bears won’t bid on him.

McNabb said during his many television appearances on Thursday that he wanted to clear his head and take a step back from things. It seems like there’s a strong chance he’ll get that chance for the rest of the season, at the very least.
