Last December, the Jets suddenly and abruptly lost safety Jim Leonhard for the rest of the season, days before a 45-3 blowout loss to the Patriots.

This year, the Jets lost Leonhard again, during a 37-10 blowout win over the Chiefs.

The Jets placed Leonhard on injured reserve today. Leonhard has a torn patellar tendon. He suffered the injury while being tackled after making an interception on Sunday.

In 2010, the Jets eventually made the adjustment to the absence of Leonhard. They’ll need to make it quickly in 2011, or they may not make it to the playoffs.
