Source: Luck hasn’t spoken to or met with CAA

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported earlier today that there’s talk in the agent community that Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck will sign with Tom Condon and Ben Dogra of CAA.

While that may indeed be a completely accurate representation of the current pulse of the agent community, there’s a long way to go before it happens.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, neither Andrew Luck nor Oliver Luck have met with Condon and/or Dogra. Also, CAA has yet to even speak to Andrew Luck.

“This is purely a rumor,” the source said. “No way it can be true. I don’t think anyone is good enough to sign a player without ever having a meeting whatsoever.”

That’s true, but more than a few agents likely think they’re that good.

If Luck ultimately hires CAA, it reinforces the notion that Luck and Peyton Manning have a plan for dealing with the situation in Indianapolis, where the Colts are one loss away from “clinching” the first overall pick in the draft.
