Games involving the Baltimore Ravens often produce the AFC defensive player of the week.  For Week 15, the award went to a former Raven, in a game played against the Ravens.

Chargers linebacker Antwan Barnes, who spent the first three years of his career in Baltimore, chalked up four sacks against the Ravens on Sunday night, in San Diego’s 34-14 Sunday night win.

Barnes, who had no starts in five prior seasons, has started four times in 2011.  But he came off the bench against Baltimore to notch his career-high quartet of sacks.

For the year, Barnes has 11 sacks — fourth most in the AFC.

  1. Good to see San Diego on the right track. Whether they make the playoffs or not its a win win in SD. They make playoffs, great lets bust out the beer bong and celebrate. If they don’t, great we fire Norv and AJ.

  2. What!!! Chiefs defense should of gotten it….or hali, flowers, Carr, Lewis, and don’t forget derrick johnson.

  3. Barnes clearly deserves it for shutting down that high powered Flacco-led offense and beating the undefeated Ravens!

Oh I’m sorry, that was Tamba Hali against Rodgers and the Pack.

  4. Never really quite understood why he and Harbaugh couldn’t see eye to eye. If they could have, I think he would have been the perfect pass crusher opposite Suggs. But I’m happy he’s finally getting his chance to be an impact player.
