McCloughan claims he was joking

On Friday, former 49ers General Manager Scot McCloughan made a few waves with his comments regarding his current team’s upcoming game. McCloughan, who now works as a senior personnel executive with the Seahawks, made a Ryanesque boast in an interview with Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports.

“They come to our place Christmas Eve, and we’re going to beat the hell out of ‘em,” McCloughan said of the Niners.

McCloughan has tried to take a little of the sting out of his remarks. “It was done in a joking manner,” McCoughan told Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

Also, Silver has since revised his item to explain that McCloughan was laughing when he said what he said.

But McCloughan still said what he said. And 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh surely will use those words to help his team avoid the same fate that awaited his brother’s team last month in Seattle.
