Brandon Jacobs to Rex Ryan: “It’s time to shut up, fat boy”

AP

The Jets-Giants trash talk didn’t end after the Giants win on Saturday.  According to multiple reports, Brandon Jacobs and Rex Ryan got into a yelling match after the game.

Jacobs said that Ryan went after him “The way his pops went after [Kevin] Gilbride.”

Nice recall by Jacobs there, although it sounds like Jacobs may have tried to provoke Ryan.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger writes that Jacobs told Ryan, “It’s time to shut up, fat boy.”

Jacobs’ version of the events to reporters was a little different. But not by much.

“I told him to shut the f— up,” Jacobs said via the New York Daily News.  Ryan then told him “Go f— yourself.”

In Jacobs’ view, “Rex Ryan is a disrespectful bastard. The Jets have a big mouth, big belly coach that talks too much.”

Meanwhile, even Giants public relations director Pat Hanlon got into the act after the game.

“Again, to our hosts. . . sorry about the mess we left behind. We’ll clean it up later. We have a big game in ‘your’ house this week,” Hanlon wrote on Twitter.

Ah, Christmas time in New Jersey.  Feel the holiday cheer.

  1. FINALLY, someone actively employed in the National Football League says what 99% of NFL fans have been thinking the last three years!

  2. Acutally, the time for Sexy Rexy to shut up was quite some time ago. Oh well, that wasn’t the worst part of the night for the Jets. Didn’t some no name WR Cruz by them?

  3. Never been a Jacobs fan..but am now.

He said what millions of us would say if face to face w/rexy, santonio, cromartie…any of thos loudmouth attention seeking parasites

  4. That is hysterical. I thought Jacobs was on the border of throwing his own coach under the bus this week when Ryan was spouting off.

    Hysterical exchange.

  5. While I agree that Rex is a crazy dude, it’s real funny that the guy to call him disrespectful has a td celebration where he acts as if he’s participating in a gangbang

  6. If I had a vote for MVP, Jacobs would have just won it with that line. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’s going to shut up just yet.

“If we would have made the playoffs, then yes, I do believe we would have beaten every one of these teams and won the Super Bowl.” – Rex Ryan at the end of January

  7. “Again, to our hosts. . . sorry about the mess we left behind. We’ll clean it up later. We have a big game in ‘your’ house this week,” Hanlon wrote on Twitter.

    Awesome

  8. Let the payers be the team and not the coach. Let your players make the plays, let the players be the winners.
If the Jets had one, it would have benn ‘Rex wins’ and not the ‘Jets’. The coach should put the players in a position to reap the rewards and losses.

He is a head coach now, he isn’t postioning for naything more so give the press to players.

  9. God I love brandon jacobs when he does stuff like this. Really any time he acts/plays like a badass is the best. Its awesome that he finally said to rex exactly what everyone else has been thinking/saying with softer words

  10. Brandon Jacobs and Rex Ryan. Class all the way. “The Battle of New York”. Some how I just knew it would end up ugly.

  11. I like Rex, he might drop an F-bomb every once in a while but thats why I like him. takes some of the “boring” out of the game

  12. What’s green and white, talks all the time, never shows up in February, and has fans who disappear after every loss and yap endlessly all summer long?

The Jets and Eagles. Guess every Conference needs a trailer trash team.

  13. Normally, I’d say you shouldn’t conduct yourself like that as a player because it’s disrespectful to talk to any coach like that. However, Rex conducts himself like a player so when guys treat him like one, he has no right to complain. If a player did this to say Tom Coughlin or Andy Reid, I would have a problem with it because those are coaches who conduct themselves with class and do things by the book. With Rex, you kind of just feel he deserved it…and probably more!

  14. Jacobs needs to show Rex some more respect. How many coaches out there have lost back to back AFC championships but acted like it was a greater accomplishment than the Super Bowl?

  15. I don’t particularly like either of the NY teams. They’re both overrated and get waaaaay to much print but at least the Giants have a recent superbowl to show for. As much as Sexy Rexxy’s talking is annoying, he’s brother talking just as much and not even being a HC puzzles the crap out of me. The whole Ryan family should just go AWAY!!!

  16. While your at it, tell his loudmouth brother down in Dallas to can it also….

Hope he does get a head coaching job…in Washington, Philly or NY.

The Ryans are a couple of choad smokers

  17. 3 years of having the greatest teams to ever play and zero rings. This year they won’t even play in the playoffs…

Maybe Rex will learn this year… talk only wins your team stuff on the internet.

  18. Rex the Mouth can talk smack all year long and that’s “ok” but as soon as someone talks smack to Rex he loses his cool. How cool is that, LMAO

  19. Brandon Jacobs and the Giants Thank You! Now if the Giants could just kick these dirtbags out of our stadium, that would be awesome.

  20. Rex is just about done in new york, he’s stuck with sanchez and his Defense is getting killed now. How does he recover?

  21. Thank you, Brandon Jacobs.
I’d say something similar if I could get anywhere near the loud-mouthed slob….

that was painful and embarassing. i love rex ryan and what he’s brought to the jets. i guess i understand ‘your’ hate. but i love the guy anyway. sad to see that the jets season is probably over. can’t really call it successful without making the playoffs. so something will change. it will have to. don’t think there’s any choice but to go forward with sanchez. i think schotty and cavanaugh gotta go. you try to ‘start fresh’ WITH sanchez.
i wouldn’t get too excited if you’re the gints tho. not going too far i don’t think.
    didn’t disappear okay nimrod?

  24. jacobs ZING on mister jibberjabber…

    NYR in first place…

all I need is the knicks to beat the celtics and it’s my best xmas ever 🙂

  25. Jacobs needs to Stick to things he is good at and one of those isn’t talking!!! At least Rex has the faith in his teams ability which is a Shame when they come out and play soft scared football!! At least Rex has the balls to stand up for what he believes in!!

  26. DEMOTED! … from Jets, to Airplanes ..

DEMOTED AGAIN! … from Jets, to Hot Air Balloons …

    just slow and loud

  27. The Giants won and proved they are the better team. That being said, I dont know of Brandon Jacobs should be the one saying anything. Rex Ryan will still be coach of the Jets next year. Brandon Jacobs will probably be out of the league. At the very least he wont be on the Giants thats for sure

  28. ” i guess i understand ‘your’ hate. but i love the guy anyway.”

Don’t flatter yourself. You have to relevant to be hated. Any team that hasn’t sniffed the Super Bowl in 43 years is NOT relevant. As for your comment about the Giants not going far, you’re probably right. A totally revamped O line, half the secondary out for the season BEFORE the first game and then even more injuries to more starters, rookies who had no camp to learn the system being rushed into service – it all points to a tough season. But our HC wasn’t promising that we would win the Super Bowl for the third straight year and it sure as hell doesn’t look like the Jets are going “too far” either. Now crawl back into your hole in Jersey and let the real NY team see what it can do.

  29. Guess what would you expect from some new york yankee type of teams…. Doesn’t surprise me really I am glad I live in the south I wouldn’t have it any other way… Come on Alabama and LSU! We still know football down here and not much talking either… Both of these dudes need their teeth knocked out…

  30. I just became a Brandon Jacobs fan.

What happened to all the Jets fans? What happened to all the Superbowl talk? Anyone of them care to bring up Spygate? How are the Pats doing this year? Look Ma! No cameras!

  31. Great day to be a Giants fan first we beat the JETS and now can say it is our house for the next 4 years till we meet again.

Secondly we knocked the epukes out of race.

And many of you are right Brandon my not be Giant next year but Brandon has a Ring on his finger that says world champion Rex can stay in NY the rest of his life and will never have one.

Brandon thank you for telling the head coach of the stepkids what every fan wanted to and thank you NYG for shoving the jets back into the corner of our Stadium where they belong

Now if the D shows up again next week we can host a playoff game in our house.

  32. Go Brandon, Rex Ryan is just a big mouth. What has Rex won? Nothing!
. But I don’t blame buddy for wanting to Punch Gilbrite. Gilbrite almost lost the game for the Gmen.

  33. 🙂 Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! 🙂

Sorry, but I’ve heard the “Fat Boy” comment used by Ron Borges before. If it could be funny from him it can be funny from B-Jacobs!!!

  34. Jacobs does stuff like this because he’s been around long enough to see that the league protects the Giants and they can do anything that they want to on the field and off

  35. I liked Rex’s bravado at first. It’s old now. They haven’t won a thing. He needs a new schtick.

Stick to clever one-liners, and costumes. Stay away from predictions and/or guarantees.

    Now serving Crow.

    Where’s all the Sanchize fellators?

    ————————————————-

Probably enjoying Christmas away from high school.

  37. Cowgirls fan so I don’t like the G Men but I have to admit I was happy that they won and completely amused to read Jacobs’ quote!

Which one of my teams will show up next week? Cool, confident and smothering on defense or schizoid, can’t close out a game, offense always finds a way to give it away…

Praying for the former and scared ishtless of the latter….

  38. Two mediocre teams played a mediocre game, and the biggest headline was a mediocre player having a pissing contest with a mediocre coach. Must’ve involved new York.

  39. Its ok for Rex to talk all the crap he wants, but you have to win and back it up!! He makes himself look bad as well as the team. Hopefully this lost humbles him a little!

  40. Never like the Giants much, but Coughlin is the man and comments like Jacobs’s only make me happier to see the NYG win the East. Packers Giants for the trip to SB?

only a fellator would know there’s such a word (or care)

as for talking up sanchez. today’s not good for me.
sad state of affairs for jets fans for sure.

we in the NY area are glad you live in the south too.

  43. Brandon Jacobs is an idiot. Especially since he doesn’t think he’ll be back with the Giants next year. I’m sure that comment will cost him some money.

Rex Ryan thinks my feet are sexy.

Only because he can’t see his own. Between him and his brother neither knows what color their shoes are.

  45. Jacobs is simply serving Rex his full serving of humble pie.

If you run your mouth all week, now’s not teh time to expect guys to be classy.

  46. I don’t blame Rex. He can’t win on the field. At least he is one of the best trash talking off the field.

  47. Rex Ryan is nothing but a carney, trying to push a product that has no value. The Jets are mediocre at best. Their offensive skill players are marginal and I think the “D” is tried of trying to hold everything together. Besides flapping his lips I am not sure that Rex can coach at this level.

  48. Rex Ryan is known for his big mouth, his big belly, his foot fetish and his overrated football team.
Rob Ryan is known for needing a haircut and a shower, his big belly, and his big mouth and all he is is an average defensive coordinator.

Why do the Ryan Brothers get so much press? Lets ignore them, that’ll make them both crazy.

  49. All I hear from Jets fans is how Rex Ryan got the Jets to the AFC Championship 2 years in the row. And as great as that is, you don’t sell merchandise strictly on that accomplishment. 3 things Rex has continued fail at doing is win the AFC East, win the AFC and just get to the Super Bowl to win that. Yet he continues to run his mouth over & over again, setting himself up for an amplified crash and burn. The fact that he hasn’t learned that in the past 3 seasons is why he’s a moron. If you are going to talk big you better be able to back it up. Otherwise it looks like false bravado and your credibility gets taken away. His mouth has hurt the Jets more than anything else, coupled with the fact that he obviously can dish out the trash talk but can’t take it, makes him & the franchise that supports him a joke. His willingness to engage in immature, fowl-mouthed banter is proof that he needs to grow up.

  50. Why do the Ryan Brothers get so much press? Lets ignore them, that’ll make them both crazy.

    ———————————————-

good one. they actually get so much press because of YOU!

  51. After two great seasons coaching his team to the AFC championship game, I guess it’s finally time for Rex to experience the agony (instead of the thrill) of ‘da feet.
