Before the Battle of New York officially began, the two teams sent their captains to midfield for the coin toss.

The Jets sent only one player. Former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress.

It’s common for Jets coach Rex Ryan to use those past connections when picking game captains. And while it’s no surprise that Burress is one of the captains, it’s indeed surprising that he was the only captain.

Before the game, the Jets introduced their defense to the “home” crowd. But they also introduced Burress.
