Vikings coach Leslie Frazier wouldn’t close the door last week on Joe Webb having a future at quarterback with the Vikings, but he’s not going to start in the present.
Frazier confirmed the plan is for Christian Ponder to start the season finale against the Bears. Ponder left last week’s game with a concussion before Webb sparked the Vikings to victory. Ponder was back at practice Wednesday.
Ponder has struggled down the stretch with injuries and ineffective play. Frazier made it clear Wednesday Ponder is still the starting quarterback for now and next year, but the team wants to do a better job getting Webb involved with a “package” of plays designed around his talents.
