Little doubt Yates will be ready for next week

Don’t expect Jake Delhomme to start a playoff game next week.

Texans starting quarterback T.J. Yates left Houston’s game in the first quarter on Sunday, but the Texans say he could have re-entered the game.

It’s no surprise, then, that Yates said after the game he would be ready to start next week. Coach Gary Kubiak wasn’t quite that clear.

“He’s a got a bruised [left) shoulder at this moment,” Kubiak said via the Houston Chronicle. “He’s being evaluated this evening. We’ll get some pictures this evening.”

Kubiak didn’t sound that concerned overall.

“I think there’s always concern until you get back onto the practice field and get ready to go,” he said. “But I had confidence that he could have been in the game for us.”

The Texans will host the Bengals or Titans next week.
