Todd Haley meeting with Cardinals today

When we last looked at the status of former Chiefs head coach Todd Haley, it appeared unlikely that there was a place for him on the Cardinals’ coaching staff. But that may no longer be the case.

Today Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that Haley is meeting with Cardinals’ coaches and team officials about re-joining their offensive staff.

When Haley met with the Cardinals before, it appeared that it wasn’t going to work out because head coach Ken Whisenhunt does not want to demote offensive coordinator Mike Miller, and Haley didn’t want to take a job below the coordinator level. But it now appears that they may be able to find the right fit for Haley in Arizona.

Haley was the Cardinals’ offensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008 before leaving to become the Chiefs’ head coach. He previously coached the wide receivers with the Jets, Bears and Cowboys.

  1. Unless he is bringing Kurt Warner with him to be the QB then this will not make a difference

  2. This guy is going back at a lower staffed position than he did when he left. Talk about hubris. QB coach, not even receiver coach – so he can yell at Skelton and Kolb instead of Cassel.

Maybe he’ll have a little humility.

  3. Haley was a solid OC and would do a fantastic job with Ben, Wallace and Brown in Pittsburgh. That’s a very similar set of skill players to what Haley coached in Arizon (Warner, Fitz and Boldin).

The dude is a bit too crazy to be a head coach but he can be an effective “mad scientist” on offense.

  4. He’ll be the conspiracy coordinator. First act is to install tin foil in the lining of all the helmets so the CIA can’t read their thoughts.
