Bart Scott has elbow surgery

AP

Jets linebacker Bart Scott apparently will have a slightly harder time shooting a middle finger to the media, with at least one of his arms.

Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that Scott has had offseason elbow surgery.  The procedure cleaned out bone chips.

Scott reportedly will be ready for the launch of the offseason program in April.  But the deeper question is whether Scott will be participating in the Jets’ offseason program, or someone else’s.  Rod Boone of Newsday reported on the final day of the 2011 regular season that the Jets won’t retain Scott in 2012, due in large part to a $5.6 million base salary.

the other large part being that he isn’t very good anymore.

  2. He’s never been right since Hines Ward laid him out. I’d love to see him go to the Ravens as well.

  3. another one of rex ryans made up all pro’s. so lets see–he said bart scott was the next ray lewis and kerry rhodes was the next ed reed. and he also said they would win the champ and also said they were big brothers in ny.

  4. He probably “Can’t wait” to get back to hiding in the shadow of a great LB… Cough… Ray Lewis …cough

If youre athletic and can tackle Ray Lewis will make you servicable and perhaps even a ProBowler…. Heck he’ll probably get you some dough in free agency… Right Bart?

  5. They shouldn’t be allowed to cut him. After all, players are held to their current contracts, then so should the teams! The owners agreed to the contract as well didn’t they?

  6. He was in-line to replace Ray when/if Ray ever retired. I felt he was very good when he was here, but since he left – I think its good he’s gone and I hope – for good.

  7. hes still tops in the league at stopping the run, and blowing up fullbacks/offensive linemen so others can make the tackle. does all the dirty work.

problem is he has no business being on the field in a passing situation.
