It’s a big draft for the big uglies

We already passed along some of the highlights from NFL Network Mike Mayock’s marathon two hour conference call on Wednesday.

Listening to Mayock is the best way to start catching up on draft preparations, so here’s a quick recap of some other worthy nuggets.

1. Mayock thought the draft is deepest at defensive tackle. He has 5-7 first rounders at that position. He says it’s very thin at defensive end, but very deep for interior offensive linemen. So if you need a big ugly on either side of the ball, this is your draft.

2. Expect Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill to go solidly in the first round. Mayock says Tannehill lacks some anticipation and throws into coverage, but he was ver intrigued by his skill set.

3. Mayock is not a Quinton Coples guy. The UNC product made noise at the Senior Bowl. Mayock says Coples looks the part, but doesn’t play like it.

4. On the possibility of Boston College inside linebacker Luke Kuechly going to the Eagles: ""I think he starts day one and really solidifies what they’ve got going on up front there.”
