Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga recently was charged with misdemeanor assault, based on a claim that he punched a bar employee.

To little if any surprise, Maualuga claims he didn’t do it.

According to the Associated Press, Maualuga’s lawyer filed a written plea on Friday proclaiming his innocence. The alleged incident occurred only days after Maualuga’s probation from a 2010 DUI guilty plea expired.

As a possible repeat offender, Maualuga could be facing a suspension under the personal-conduct policy. He was fined two game checks for his DUI plea.
