Whisenhunt says his quarterbacks are “knuckleheads” at times

It’s important for a coach and G.M. to be on the same page. When it comes to the quarterback position for the Cardinals, they apparently are.

Rod Graves recently hinted that quarterback Kevin Kolb will be back, but that “things” could “change” at some point “down the road.” Ken Whisenhunt was slightly more explicit in a radio interview with KTAR, via NFL.com.

Both guys are going to get opportunities because John [Skelton] certainly deserves it from the way that he played over the back half of the season and Kevin certainly deserves it from the reason that we went out, got him, and brought him in,” Whisenhunt said.

Neither guy got a ringing endorsement from Whisenhunt, who said that, while they’ve “shown at time they can do things very well, they’ve shown at times that they are knuckleheads.”

In other words, if ownership is willing to make an offer that compares favorably with the numbers the Dolphins and/or Redskins will put on the table after Colts owner Jim Irsay declines to put another $28 million in to Peyton’s pockets, those knuckleheads could be replaced by a guy with a fairly large head.
