Everyone knows Baylor Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III is one of the fastest quarterbacks in history, but the question is whether he’ll prove to be an NFL-quality passer. At the Scouting Combine, Griffin plans to demonstrate just how fast he is. But he doesn’t plan to show off his passing arm.
Griffin said on the Dan Patrick Show that he is leaning against throwing at the Combine.
“I don’t think so,” Griffin said. “It’s still up in the air but I’m probably not going to throw.”
Griffin said he doesn’t think throwing to a bunch of receivers he’s never met before is conducive to putting on the best passing performance he can, and so he’d rather hold off until Baylor’s Pro Day to throw to Baylor receivers in a more comfortable environment.
But Griffin, who was a world-class hurdler before focusing on football, is comfortable running anywhere. Griffin he said he’ll have no trouble running it in less than 4.5 seconds, and he’d like to run under 4.4, which he has done in the past.
“I think there’s a possibility that I go under 4.4,” Griffin said.
That would be an impressive showing. But the area where Griffin really needs to impress is with his arm. And that will have to wait.
