Rodgers on Braun’s winning appeal: “Open up for some crow”

A. Rodgers R. Braun

Unlike Florio, I don’t hate baseball. But I don’t follow the sport one-tenth as much as I used to, so it’s hard to muster up an opinion about Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun winning an appeal that overturned his 50-game drug suspension on Thursday.

The guys over at HBT can handle that. Oh, and Braun’s friend Aaron Rodgers is also rather fired up about the decision. Here goes:

“MLB and cable sports tried to sully the reputation of an innocent man. Picked the wrong guy to mess with. Truth will set u free #exonerated,” Rodgers wrote on Twitter. “When its guilty until proven innocent, all u need are the facts. #howsthecrowmlb #exonerated.”

The case helps to highlight the differences between the NFL and MLB drug policies, as pointed out by David Cornwell on PFT Live Wednesday. Rodgers wasn’t thinking about the odd details of the case when he celebrated Braun’s win.

“I’ll let my buddy take it from here. All u idiots talking about technicality open up for some crow too. See if Espn gets pressured not to . . . let the people hear the truth. Should get interesting. #exonerated#shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.”

Rodgers has taken some criticism for getting so emotional, but I like it. If you can’t get fired up about one of your best friends scoring a major victory, what’s the point of Twitter?

The idea is to get to know the athletes we follow a little better. Right or wrong, I know Rodgers a little better now.
