Iowa guard Adam Gettis is an unheralded prospect, having been overshadowed on the Hawkeyes’ offensive line by Riley Reiff and Markus Zusevics. But Gettis made a mark with an attention-grabbing Combine workout on Saturday.
Gettis’ two unofficial forty times were 4.91 and 5.00, both impressive for a 293-pound football player. He posted the fastest unofficial 10-yard split among offensive linemen, clearing the first quarter of the forty in 1.65 seconds.
Gettis also posted an explosive broad jump, leaping nine feet and four inches from a standing start.
A fifth-year senior, Gettis earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2011. He started 29 games at Iowa, 28 of them at right guard.
With plus athleticism, Gettis may appeal to zone-blocking teams in the later rounds of the draft. At 6-foot-2, 293 with 33-inch arms, Gettis projects as a guard or center in the NFL.
