Warrant issued for Marcus Vick after he fails to report to jail

Marcus Vick is in trouble with the law again.

Vick, who like his brother Michael Vick was a Virginia Tech quarterback, but unlike Michael was unsuccessful in the NFL (going undrafted and playing just one game for the Dolphins), had an arrest warrant issued this morning after he failed to turn himself in at the Newport News City Jail, the Daily Press reports.

Last week a judge sentenced Marcus Vick to 10 days in jail for contempt of court because he twice failed to appear to answer to a charge of driving on a suspended license. Vick was supposed to turn himself in by 5 p.m. on Monday to begin serving his jail time, but he didn’t show up.

In addition to multiple offenses of driving on a suspended license and multiple offenses of failure to appear in court on those charges, Marcus Vick has had a 2006 conviction for disorderly conduct and a 2009 conviction for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In 2008 he was charged with driving under the influence and eluding police.

  1. We’re supposed to care about an NFL player’s brother having a warrant out for his arrest? What? An NFL news site is posting about a guy who played in ONE NFL game years ago? Really?

  2. What’s the point of releasing him after 10 days, if the police is just going to have to pick him up again and again?

    Throw away the key.

  3. No-Show for 10 day sentence? Damn, it’s 5 if you’re “well-behaved”…the mole hill just became a mountain!

  4. All that talent gone to waste. His brother almost wasted his, too. I’m doing my best not to waste mine, I am writing character descriptions for my book right now.

“The saddest thing in life is wasted talent” – A Bronx Tale

  5. So he either someone who:

    1. Thinks he is to important to follow the rules.
    2. Has no disregard for the rules.
    3. Is to stupid to follow the rules.

I am going with number 3

  6. His older brother success failed him as a person and a player. It spoiled him with the unlimited access to Vicks cars and money. On the field he tried to be his brother and wasn’t. Those genes went to the older brother. Momma has t eo be proud of the job she did. Two sons going to prison ande neither has a college degre

  7. Hopefully he’ll have some time to sit around and reminisce about his Most Unsportsmanlike trophies from college.

  8. turd list goes back to 0 days again. ha. A shame based family is great huh?(why else would he and his dogkiller brother do this behavior? the fun of it?)

  9. there’s no need in being dumb unless, you’re real dumb….you marcus vick are real DUMB!
Damn it’s just ten days… well, at least it was! Not reporting in some states is considered to be escape!!!!

  10. First and foremost, Marcus had a lottery ticket and he burned it. But it is true a # of V Tech football players have issues with the law.

Now it’s also true other universities have that same issue. I’m just hopeful that these places of higher learning are infact trying to teach more than football.

Why would you send your kid to a place where arrest are so common?

  11. sooooo….it runs in the family! Gentlemen….it’s time to grow up, take that next step and blend in with the rest of society.

  12. Keep giving the “kid” break after break, maybe after he finally hurts someone he’ll spend some time in jail.

  13. 1 game with the Dolphins “warrants” a picture of him in that uniform. . . Come on PFT, you can do better than that.

  14. Well maybe if you put him in the clink for a year he will learn his lesson…10 days…means a vacation for him to go visit his boys.

  15. People like Marcus are completely useless to society and just cost the taxpayers money. The Vicks must be really proud of the way they raised their children. If Michael and Marcus were’t blessed with genetic physical attributes, their pea-sized brains would land them in jail again and again as drains on society.

  16. What?!?! He didn’t show up for a hearing for a suspended sentence? That offense is a slap on the wrist. And then he did it again. And then he didn’t show up for his relatively tame 10 day prison sentence? I hope whatever you were doing those days was worth the insanely disproportional punishment you receive for a minor infraction. You deserve it. Unbelievable.

  17. I bet he has that picture framed in his home, or his parent’s home, where ever he sleeps.

  18. Millions of people would kill to have his athletic ability, and he’s throwing it all away. Without his football talent, he’s just another useless convict in and out of prison. Keep it up Marcus, you’re about to ruin ANY chance you have at playing football.

  19. Yall are talking like the man committed murder or something. It was driving on a suspended license. Shouldn’t even be jail time for that BS. #whackcriminaljusticesystem

  20. These judges are the problem. Give this slug five years and NO PAROLE. Ten days is a picnic.

  21. Totally agree with granadafan, if his brother wasn’t famous he wouldn’t even have had choice to turn himself in. Once sentence came down he would have gone right then and there, just like everybody else.

  22. This is the new generation below: No a big deal, not their fault, call everyone a hater, call them prejudiced, call the biased. Too many people in the NEW SCHOOL don’t take responsibility for anything, are not accountable and waste the time and money of others who do the right thing. What if everyone is society just acted like the esteemed Marcus Vick? Nobody goes to court, nobody pays fines, nobody obeys laws. Great society you would have. Get a grip. Grow up.

Does that mean we may actually get an end to the Saga of Westeros sometime this decade, Mr. Martin?

Here come the posts where people somehow slam MICHAEL Vick over this.

Just seems to run in the blood! Simple easy fine but he got to disrespect the law! What a loser! What did he do with his 1st year salary with the Dolphins? Blow it up his nose?

It is about a total disrespect for the system! A POS that won’t amount to anything. Micheal “seems’ to be getting his stuff together but once he gets positive on his cash flow we shall see!

  26. Cooper Manning has a wife and three kids and part ownership of an energy firm that deals with oil and gas stocks.

I mean, since we’re talking about the non-football playing brothers of NFL quarterbacks.

Number 3 is a good choice, but you left out an even better one…

    4. All of the above.

  28. It is sad that Marcus can’t stay out of trouble because he has no reason to be in trouble all the time, he has been spoiled since he was 16, but it is also sad that you so-called perfect people think that they have the right to talk about his family, because Michael is a football player Profootball talk hates Mike so of course they write about his brother, where were they when Brett Favre sister was arrested for the 4th time for Meth possession and also selling it? Where are the article about other white players family members being in trouble? No they don’t wirte about that. The give excuse for Sandusky, Paterno and other sickos who have gotten away with some sick things, but that is okay as long as you love a dog you can be a degenerate> You got murders out there and not one thing is said about them. Well keep hiding behind a user name and throwing stones while you are living with all kinds of issues in your family. It won’t change what you and your family are no matter what you say about Marcus, you just aren’t relevant enough for anyone to care about your sick behavior. Clean your own mess up and maybe we won’t have so many trailer trash shooting people they don’t no for no reason. Raise your hateful kids with love and forgiveness then maybe this world can change. So all you saints including Michael Smith who wrote this enjoy hiding behind your useless life that nobody cares about what is going on in your sick family.

  29. ok’ok, i agree the guy does,nt know when to quit and he does’nt know how fortunate he is either , but show me a person from a wealthy family and talented family who does? I feel he needs help spiritul guidence when they finally get his butt behind bars and rehab at the same time! After that three strikes your out!
