The Bears made the release of defensive lineman Anthony Adams official on Thursday. They also cut tackle Frank Omiyale while they were at it.
Omiyale wasn’t previously reported, but the news doesn’t come as a shock. He is part of the ever-struggling rotation of Bears offensive linemen and was benched early in 2011. Omiyale started at three positons and appeared in every Bears game over the last three seasons.
The moves save $2.5 million in cap space and might only be the beginning of Chicago’s transformation on both lines. These are the first moves under new Bears general manager Phil Emery. We expect the Bears to be quite aggressive in free agency.
