Jarrad Page tries out for Los Angeles Dodgers

Free agent safety Jarrad Page chose football over baseball coming out of UCLA six years ago despite being a three-time draft pick by Major League Baseball. The Los Angeles Angels wanted Page so badly in 2006 that they used a seventh-round pick on him just one month after Page was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Page appeared in 11 games for the Eagles and Vikings last season, starting five. His NFL contract is up, however, and he’s at least flirting with the idea of giving baseball another try.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Page attended the L.A. Dodgers’ open tryout late this week.

The seriousness of Page’s baseball interest is uncertain. Perhaps he just showed up for fun. But the former decorated high school outfielder has at least one worthwhile fallback option in case this football thing doesn’t work out.
