On Friday afternoon, the NFL announced that the Saints maintained a bounty program for three seasons, in violation of league rules.

But while the crime has been disclosed, the punishment has not yet been determined. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that a decision from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is coming by March 25, the commencement of the league’s annual meetings.

Glazer says that an answer could arrive even sooner, within one or two weeks.

The initial announcement indicates that possible sanctions include fines, suspensions, and the forfeiture of draft picks. Regardless of the final decision, the situation surely will overshadow every other NFL story until a decision is made.
