At a time when the Bayou Bounty Bureau has been consuming so much attention, it’s nice to divert some e-ink that would be devoted to players hurting others for money and directing it to players helping others, for free.

A delegation of five players (four current, one former) are spending the week in the Middle East, visiting with troops as part of the USO program.

And so Panthers punter Jason Baker, Browns center Alex Mack, Chargers linebacker Takeo Spikes (pictured), Texans tackle Eric Winston, and former NFL linebacker Dhani Jones will continue an annual tradition that began back in 1996.

Congrats to the league for continuing to find ways to make the lives of our troops a little brighter, and kudos to Baker, Mack, Spikes, Winston, and Jones for giving up their own free time to make the trip.
