Tim Tebow described as “rattled” over Peyton Manning’s Denver visit

Getty Images

Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is in limbo at the moment, waiting to see whether Peyton Manning winds up in Denver, and knowing nothing about his future other than that John Elway and John Fox weren’t telling the whole truth when they said Tebow would definitely enter training camp as the Broncos’ starting quarterback.

Given that, it’s unsurprising that the usually congenial Tebow isn’t in the mood to tak to reporters right now.

Tebow is making appearances in Tampa this weekend to raise money for wounded war veterans, and he had said he would speak to reporters. But Nicole Darin, sports anchor at WTSP-TV, reports that Tebow is rattled by Manning’s visit with the Broncos and refused to speak with the media as originally promised.

It’s hard to blame Tebow for that: When he originally planned the media session, he thought it would be an opportunity to raise awareness for wounded troops. He now realizes that at any appearance he makes will raise awareness of the fact that the Broncos aren’t as confident in him as they’ve claimed to be.

So Tebow is going to keep a low profile for now, while he waits and wonders whether he’ll be keeping a low profile next season as the holder of Manning’s clipboard.

UPDATE: Nicole Darin deleted her tweet after she was criticized by Tebow fans following her statement getting picked up by us, NFL.com and other sites.

  1. HA!, What does Tebow have to fear from Manning?…. Losing his job? I got news for Tebow he could lose his job to a rookie just as easy!

  2. Tim Tebow described as “downright shocked” to learn he was playing Quarterback this entire time.

  3. Tim, if 4 time MVP, 11 time Pro Bowler, 2nd all time passer, and SB champion Peyton Manning can get cut, so can you…

You have no right to be “rattled”.

  4. #1. Holding a clipboard behind Peyton for a couple years would do Tebow a world of good. He should be more than excited for the opportunity.

#2. For the money they would have to pay Peyton, anything less than a Super Bowl victory will be completely pointless. And, it’s been 6 years and 4 neck surgeries since he accomplished that — on a Colts team that has had far more championship pieces in place than Denver.

  5. The Broncos better hope they get Manning. If they don’t, it will be quite awkward with Tim and their would be no trust. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t keep that promise of him starting week 1. They’ll probably turn to a Jason Campbell to come in and manage the game with their rushing attack.

  6. I really feel bad for broncos fans. The only way to get rid of a terrible quarterback is to over pay for an old, injured, washed up quarterback.

  7. It’s useless trying to convince people that Tebow is not cut out for the QB position, his supporters are so passionate that you cannot reason with them. He does not have the skills required to succeed as a QB in the NFL–all you have to do is shut down their run game and contain him in the pocket, everything else will fall into place.

  8. I’m not a Tebow fan because of all his God stuff, but with that said this young man doesn’t deserve to get this kind of treatment from the Broncos after the season he put together for them last year.

If I’m Tebow, I’m sending out feelers to the Jaguars where I can go to a team and area that’ll appreciate me.

Let the Broncos spend big bucks on a washed-up QB who clutches in the post-season who will never win a second ring. Peyton and the Broncos deserve each other because they both horses’ asses.

  9. Tim, It’s the (Not For Long League), get ready to play tight end, slot or look for a trade to Jacksonville. No problem. Didn’t hurt him as a freshman with Chris Lead as the starting QB, they found ways to get him on the field. Peyton is the valid starter as long as he’s healthy.

  10. The Broncos are a poorly run organization. Elway has no idea how to run a franchise.

  11. I’m no Tebow-maniac by any means but I think it was the right and classy move to not talk to reporters. Had he spoken to the media it would have been all about him and the Denver QB situation instead of the cause or charity work being done. I am sure people will bash him regardless but not making the event about himself was a nice move on his part in my opinion.

  12. I don’t understand how the Broncos think that they are even remotely close to being a Super Bowl caliber team. Most experts predicted the Broncos would be in the bottom third of the league last year, and true to form they started out 1-4.

Bring in Tebow, and while it wasn’t always pretty, he made the Broncos a far bigger story than they really were. They backed into the playoffs with an 8-8 record in a terribly medicore divsion, and got extremely lucky to beat a completely beat up Pittsburgh team.

You then publicly affirm beyond any doubt Tebow is the starter next year, and then you completely backstab him by trying to get Manning. Business is business. I get that. But how the hell do they think an old possibly broken down Peyton Manning is going to win a Super Bowl with this team?!

  13. Why are you rattled? It’s meant to be. It’s all part of HIS great plan.

So practice what you preach and embrace it.

  14. The sad part is that the war veterans need money raised by charity and aren’t taken care of already by the people that sent them into war.

Here comes the Tebow/Jesus jokes for the zillionth time

    ===========================

Which is still fewer times than Tebow tries to shove Jesus down our throats.

But …. trade the kid to where he can play as a TE or a position for which he is suited.

  16. Trust me – he’s not rattled. This is Tim Tebow, Gods QB. If Manning does sign I can assure you he won’t play a down, and/or won’t last a game it two.

It always works out for Tebow – no doubt it will here as well

  17. He doesn’t have to be rattled. Manning is a 36 year old coming off 2 neck surgeries. More then likely he’s finished! Also, Peyton can’t go anywhere until Archie gives him permission.

  18. Tebow should be rattled for the reason that he has the same representation as Manning. His own guys are helping put him on the bench. If Manning ends up in Denver, those guys better have a trade in place for Tebow to Jacksonville or Miami or those guys are going to get fired ASAP!!!!!

  19. If this guy is rattled and his feelings are hurt – he has no business being with adults.

    Talk about mentally weak.

If a sure, first ballot, hall of famer coming to your team rattles you – then I just don’t know what to say…

Grow some skin and be an adult. Quit your whining.

  20. This is unprecedented, Tebows misses an opportunity for a media gig?…My guess is that there is fear from his handlers/agents that he might come across poorly when faced with this situation in a public setting. His image of humility and grace when he is doubted might get tarnished.

  21. TT. Welcome to the NFL. It’s in somebody elses hands and there is nothing you can do about it. Whatever is meant to happen will. Talk to the reporters. It’s not their fault that this is happening and it’s not their fault you’re a QB in a TE body and it’s not their fault you have a 47% CP and a 75 QB rating.

  22. …….and if Manning doesn’t end up in Denver, I would want a trade if I’m Tebow. Elway and Fox have been jerking him around and are completely disingenuous. He can’t possibly trust those two (eventhough he’s too respectful to say publicly), but between his own representation, his boss and his coach, he might need to clean the slate……..and understandably as far as I’m concerned.

Very short-sided moves by Denver, Manning and their representation if this comes to fruition.

  23. Tim Tebow described as “delusional” for believing he’s earned the right to be handed the starting QB gig based on an extremely unimpressive stint as starter in 2011.

    ====================================

The problem is it will be very hard to find someone wanting Tebow in a trade. I’m guessing if he restructured his deal down about 75% salary, he might find a taker to be a blocking TE or a FB, but as a QB, there are 31 other teams with better QB’s already slated to start.

  25. Still not as “rattled” as Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn were when Tebow took their jobs.

  26. I’m still rattled from watching Tebow throw last year. Maybe god is not big on accuracy.

I’m pretty sure anyone has the right to feel rattled when they might lose their job, regardless of their profession.

  29. John Elway has no business running this Denver team. I mean, c’mon, unless you are absolutely sure that Peyton Manning would sign with Denver, why would you alienate your present starter in Tim Tebow? I guess Elway has always been a wave starter, why change now. I am feeling for Bronco fans right now, I would never want to be in that situation. Y’all finally find a good QB who has shown he is a winner and your GM decides that he’s not good enough now. Even if somehow Elway does land Manning, he’s only good for two to three more seasons, then what? When all along Tebow could be starting, and become better and better as time goes on. Sticky situation to be in.

    *******************************************

Except it’s not like he’s losing any pay or vacation time or has to find another one. Manning coming to the team basically means his boss has kept his salary the same and reduced his expectations, responsibility and the like.

There’s LESS expected of him, he has to do LESS on Sunday and he gets paid the same.

Hardly an apples/apples comparo to Joe the accountant being replaced by an intern.

  31. Coach Fox said the Broncos would be going to training camp with four quarterbacks, so what are the Broncos supposed to do? Get 2 additional quarterbacks who are worse then Tebow so Tebow won’t get rattled with the news of competition during the off season?

  32. Not a Tebow hater or lover..Seriously, do you really think that he told reporter, “I’m rattled with this Manning thing, I can’t do the interview.” Another TV host looking for a story or making one up if one is not found.

  33. Tebow… just accept reality for what it is (I know that’s a lot harder for you than most): Peyton Manning is 20x the NFL QB you will ever be, even at 36 years old with a neck problem.

Either accept your role as perpetual backup, or request to be used as a FB/TE. It’s as simple as that.

You’re just not cut out out to play quarterback at this level. Accept it, and move on with your life.

  34. I can see why he’s rattled. He believed he would be the starter in 2012. But he’s better off not talking to reporters. That’s smart on his part.

Think of how rattled Peyton was (even though it was obviously coming). And then 5 more guys get cut from Colts on Friday. Another rattle.

And Washington trading everything to get RG3 (he may look great, but he has a lot yet to prove at NFL level). There was already a QB battle there last year. Another 2 rattled QB’s.

It’s going on in a lot of cities this year. So Tim shouldn’t be too surprised. He’s not the only one.

  35. tebows dealt with adversity all his life you think some washed up 36 year old coming off of 4 neck surgeries is gonna rattle this kid,I don’t think so,he’ll learn how to throw the ball and keep proving them wrong.

    —————————————-

Exactly what I was going to write, but since it isn’t letting me thumbs up your post…

It’s not like I don’t understand the Bronco’s position, but I’m pretty sure if you were in a similar position with your work, where you suddenly find out that your boss is interviewing other people to replace you, you would feel the “right” to be “rattled” as well.

I would honestly be more concerned if Tebow wasn’t more concerned.

And the article never says that Tebow said that he was rattled, in fact there are no quotes at all directly from Tebow. We don’t know where the reporter got those words, it could have been from his agent or just speculation. But why hold a press conference in this situation when all anyone is going to ask questions about or report is how he is feeling about the Manning situation. The original intent of the interview was to raise awareness of a cause, and since that’s most won’t happen it makes sense he would cancel.

  37. More disfunction in Denver. Whatever happens the Broncos have screwed things up for the foreseeable future. Manning won’t be as good as Denver thinks for a number of reasons, not the least of which is after 3 necks procedures Manning just isn’t the same player. If Denver doesn’t get Manning, then the team has just shot the confidence of Tebow and the confidence of the team in him. Way to go. It doesn’t really bother me. Just makes things easier for the Raiders.

  38. I don’t see how Denver is mistreating poor Tebow. We all know PM has 3 maybe 4 years max. Hmmm, Manning as a mentor and then Elway when needed as well. Yeah, Id be rattled too i guess. Manning won’t kiss Tebow’s ass like the rest of Denver does.

In the mean time they have a real shot to get to the SB (with a few tweaks anyway) with PM. Tebow should be thankful to get to work under Manning.

And on Manning being washed up, a washed up Manning is still better than 90% of the other “quarterbacks” in the league.

  39. kmurph1226 says:

The Broncos better hope they get Manning. If they don’t, it will be quite awkward with Tim and their would be no trust.
    ____

I can understand a Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder crawfishing on a commitment to a player, but am totally disappointed to see John Elway – a former quarterback! – compromise his credibility to his player(s). It’s disheartening.

And as far as Tebow being ‘rattled’, you only heard that from the media, friends. And the media has proven itself less trustworthy than politicians. Even if he IS rattled, it’s not because of the competition that an aging, injured QB will bring… he’s rattled that a player of Elway’s stature turns out to be just another lying ‘suit’.

  40. not a tebow fan, but man elway n fox, are not into tebow at all, if i was tebow i would ask for trade, even if he never gets to be qb on other team, cause why be on a team where coaches and staff looks like they dont believe in you.

  41. PFT Guys… I thought it was just me, but another has mentioned a problem on this site. When I try to select ‘thumbs up’, it registers the increase in count for a second or two, and then falls back to the previous count. I can go ‘thumbs down’ and it works every time, but the ‘thumbs up’ count is probably less than accurate.

    Thanks

  42. This is funny, Peyton would give the Broncos the best shot over Tebow ANY day. Tebow isn’t a winner, his team is. Sure, in Gator Nation, Tebow rocked the sneak pass and the option, and the steroid-esque physique. However, the NFL is a diffrent breed, built for those with actual skill, you know “God Given Talent”, Tebow has it, just not as a QB. The only reason Tebow even has a JOB is becuase he was a 1st round pick. He will be calssified with David Carr, Joey Harrington, Vince young, and Matt Leinhart. To be honest, I would take a few of those guys over Tebow.

  43. Not for anything, but here’s the Tampa reporter’s actual tweet:

“Tim Tebow changed his mind about speaking to media today at his D1 training event in Tampa. I imagine something to do w/ Manning speculation”

I don’t see anything about him being rattled in that little statement. Just saying……

  44. too bad for Denver, looks like they will end up pissing off Tebow & lose out to Miami in the Manning derby…..GOOD JOB ELWAY!

  45. Elway takes a 4-12 team to a playoff win in his first year and is called a “poorly run franchise.”

Man, that’s a tough grading scale.

  46. Shouldn’t the headline be:

“Shockingly, league’s 28th-ranked passer is reportedly rattled by team’s apperent interest in the services of a legendary QB.”

“Said the player: I was like only 40 straight completetions and 7TD passes away from beight a top-25 QB so these reports are unexpected, to be sure. You battle day in and out, get your copletion percentage over 46% by the end of the year so you’d think the QB job is yours for next 4-5 years, but then some “Manning” guy comes along and all your accomplishments – the 12TD passes, the almost 73 QB ranking – are old news all of the sudden. Sad world we live in”

  47. I’m not a Tebow fan but it’s very commendable that he cancelled his wounded vets press conference. He knew that some d*bag reporters would show up just to ask questions not relevant to the event.

  48. I think he is the only one anywhere to not know ‘the Broncos aren’t as confident in him as they’ve claimed to be.’

In that case, he needs to get himself an agent, some family, and some friends that will tell him the truth.

  49. It’s your gods preordained destiny Tim. Suck it up and be a backup like you were meant be all along.

  50. This doesn’t mean he’s rattled at all. Totally reading into it. He just wants to keep the focus on the wounded veterans he is raising money for, and the focus off the Peyton Manning saga.

After all, I think we can all agree the wounded veterans are more important than where Peyton Manning plays next year. Classy move by Tebow, he realized the media session would only be a distraction.

  51. Tim listen and listen good. Elway and John Fox knew that they were fighting a PR Battle they could not win… What could they do but give in.

Hostage Tim these people felt they were a hostage because of the whole Tebow Mania crap.

Elway Fox Bowlen all looking for an opportunity Tim to get Tebow Mania to die and what a better way than bring in the biggest free agent ever.

Sorry Tim if this is being harsh but stop being so Naive.

  53. Ya know, all you Tebow-haters are pathetic. He is a genuine and sincere person that was trying to raise awareness for wounded veterans, and he knew the media wouldn’t stay focused on that. He was actually more professional than the media that would’ve been present, because he knew he couldn’t trust them to stick to questions about the event he was being a part of.
He has more faith in a Higher Power than many people only dream of having, which has gotten him through tough times on and off the football field when he’s doing his missionary work outside of the U.S. And you’ve got nothing better to do than rip on him? Crawl back in your holes.

  54. Hey, Smellway showed his true colors in 1983 when he dissed Baltimore like the spoiled jock coach’s son he is. Now he shows he’s a pathological liar on top of it. “Starter going into training camp”, what a forked-tongued, deceitful a$$hole.

  55. Sad that you media types need to fling it against the wall to see what sticks as far as Tebow. He declined to comment to avoid a circus that you media clowns feed on

  56. “I love Tebow and would want him to date my daughter…”

But this statement just assumes he’s straight. Got any evidence of it?

  57. If Manning goes to the Broncos, he’s going to be rattled when in his first game in Denver he hears something he’s never heard before.

Boos from his home crowd. For displacing Tebow.

  58. There’s no story here. The reporter never spoke to Tebow it was her opinion.PFT just wanted a Tebow/Manning story when there wasn’t one..yet . All to increase traffic here.

  59. Wow, supporting wounded veterans when he could be out doing blow, crashing cars, smashing a golden retriever’s head against a wall, or stiffing banks on loans. What a creep, i can totally see why people hate this guy.

  60. If Tebow could or would ever throw he would be a triple threat but Everyone one here has nailed it down to containing him in the pocket will stop him.

Personally I think the last QB with such strength who could throw a zinger was Steve Mcnair. It will be sometime before someone could fill Mcnair’s shoes with that ability. If Tebow could throw the darn ball like some of the other guys in the league he would be a beast like Mcnair was.

Tebow is a project and Teams these days want to win now hence the Peyton interview.

I seriously think Peyton will want to remain in the AFC East where us viewers will get the Manning vs Brady games. Makes for a great dual. The Dolphins sound like the team maybe and they were actually a great unit last year but were missing a few pieces. They kicked the crap out of my Raiders.

  61. He should get a job in the coal mines then he really will have to pray. The bow is washed up

  62. I’ve never seen such a hard working good player treated like this. He should ask for a release and leave the donkeys with no Manning and no Tebow. there are other teams that would love to have a player like him representing their organization

  63. This is why you can’t let superstar ex players come in and play GM. They have the hubris to think that because they were good at playing the game being GM should be easy for them. Elway is a debacle as GM. Michael Jordan another perfect example.

  64. steelersarewhatfootballisabout your whole post is beautiful Tim Tebow is a great person but that has nothing to do with the fact that Tim Tebow is not an NFL QB…………………

Sorry but all the Coaching and all the love he has for God is not going to help him there….All that high power and faith still is not going to give him the gifts to be an NFL QB………..

What it will help him with is when he is out of football one day is joining a Ministry.

  65. Why is Tebow rattled? Tom Brady was back-up QB to Drew Bledsoe. When Bledsoe got hurt, Brady got his chance and the rest is history.

The same could happen with Tebow. Manning only has a few good seasons left in him at best and maybe none at all. The Broncos need to have a QB they can bring in when/if needed. Meanwhile, Father Tim could learn a lot from a QB with Manning’s ability and experience.

    Have faith, Tim, and grow-up!

  67. Being a “good guy” and a “person of extreme faith” doesn’t cut it in the NFL. Tebow at the moment is a mediocre at best QB in the NFL. Fox & Elway didn’t draft Tebow, and wouldn’t have. I sincerely hope that Tebow gets traded to Jacksonville where he should’ve been drafted in the first place. Then I can laugh at all the “Hater Fingerpointers” that wasted their money on Tebow jerseys in Denver.

Elway and Fox would do a mighty jig if Tebow asked for his release. They they would pack his bags for him and walk him out to his car as they wished him well with heartfelt enthusiasm. Heck, they would drive him home and then clean that home for him if it meant they were rid of him.

  85. @jvillenole

I think you’re correct that Jacksonville will not give up anything substantial for Tebow, which is what many people are implying. But if the price is right, why wouldn’t Jacksonville want Tebow?

While you’re right that they passed on him in the draft, that was only in the first round. Maybe if he had lasted to the later rounds they would have decided that a 2nd or 3rd round pick is worth the undoubtable increase in ticket and jersey sales.

Again, I agree with you that many of the trade ideas are overblown. Several I have seen are diluted Broncos fans who just want to imagine signing Manning and getting a huge bounty for Tebow. But I don’t think suggesting that Jacksonville may have some interest in making an investment in Tebow falls into the realm of “stupidity.”

  86. interesting to see mental midgets still complaining that tebow jams his faith in yer faces.

    a. close yer mouth and keep walking. u look worse with some of yer commentary on his faith.

    b. he didnt physically get in yer faces. the media tried to make him look bad and they jammed him in yer face. why dont ya get mad at the media for overreporting, hyperbole, or just plain being biased.

if anyone is jamming anything in yer face, it’s the liberal media 24/7. and it sure has worked on a lot of you.

re football, sure tebow needs to get better. but he has potential (even at qb – a lot of better qbs didnt do jack last year) and maybe another 10-12 year career. peyton may not ever play again, effectively or otherwise. and i would suggest if he can suit up, 3 years is the max, he wont have that indy OL anymore altho he may be a package deal with wayne and clark. the colts were right to cut him and a slew of coaches and gm types. some of them didnt come clean and some didnt do their damn jobs the last 5 years.

and if u expect peyton to train tebow… well he sure trained curtis painter, didnt he…

  87. Congrats Elway. Payton isn’t going to Denver. So in addition to all the botched P.R. statements you made last season about Tebow and then having to ” clairify” each statement you made because of the backlash, you still found a way to screw it up this season. As a Bronco fan I beg you to put your ego behind. I understand wanting to improve the position, however you will not get Payton and you will look like the Sara Jessica Parker horse face you are. Michael Jordan is looking at you laughing and he hasn’t made a solid move when it comes to personel and P.R. in 6 years. You couldn’t even manage an Arena Football team without it going under in 2008. I’m surprised the crappy steak house you own ( check Yelp for reviews ) is still in business. You just need to stop trying to be Jerry Jones and be more like Robert Kraft. In the backround and not in the news every day.

  88. The biggest problem he’s got is that he’s trying to make a living doing a job he’s not good at.

He needs to find what he’s good at.

  89. Hate Elway. I wish they would just trade Tebow to a team that could use him. And for you idiots that repeat stupid announcer statements like “he’s trying to make a living doing a job he’s not good at”, then you obviously didn’t watch him at UF, nor did you see him take a crappy ass Denver team last year and put them in the Playoffs and beat a good Pittsburgh team. Do you want a cracker with you mimic?

  90. IF Tebow DOES lose his job, maybe he can work as a proof reader for you:
“…Tebow isn’t in the mood to tak to reporters right now.”
    Ha!

  91. I guess it’s a shame he couldn’t stay at UF then.

He’s not good at what he’s doing now. A couple of fluke wins don’t change that.

  92. This is a blessing in disguise Tebow. Manning comes to town, ask the Lord for a trade to Jacksonville. Get your new contract, and become an icon on a team that wants you.

  93. @nomoreseasontix – you have to be an idiot to even say that. He did what he did with a rag tag group of receivers who dropped tons of passes. Elway made sure to trade away their best WR the game before he makes Tebow the starter. He stacked the decks against Tebow to do away with all the Bronco fans demanding he play. Guess what Elway looked like an ass. So do you with your statement that he isn’t that good. I’d take him over most NFL QB’s except maybe 4 or 5, because he is a gamer and gets it done.

  94. Tebow is not rattled. Just a class act to maintain focus on the purpose of his visit. The reporter did not state Tebow was rattled, just concerned. then pulled the tweet when it became apparent she was speculating, not reporting actual news.

As far as Elway, the statements he made about Tebow were months before the situation with Manning. As a businessman, you do what you think is best for your business. Situations change, so you adapt and try to take advantage. Nothing evil or underhanded, just business in the NFL.

If Tebow could get back to any FL team, he would probably have a long successful career, or simply fade into history.

  95. Tebow should ask himself, “what would Jesus do”?
Jesus would talk to the media and forgive Peyton for having more skill than him.

  96. Wonder who conveyed this message. Some yellow bellied punk. Probably Brady Queer.
Why would Manning want to play somewhere cold as hell while having no tight ends and poor receivers? Answer? He wouldn’t.

  97. The broncos never said heblows would be their starter for next season, they said he would enter training camp as their starter. World of difference, hell anyone could enter training camp as the starter & the caveat was also “at this time, heblows will enter training camp as our starter”.

  98. I’ve done some research on other QB’s
And they’re “first” year stats. For example
John Elway 1983. Eleven starts with passing
Stats very eerily similar to Denver’s current
    “starting” QB. Hmmm

  99. Please, typical NBC- I highly doubt Tebow is “rattled” over this. The guy puts his faith and ministry above a sport, he has long-term goals, is a multi-millionaire several times over… And when this article said Elway and Fox weren’t “telling the whole truth” when they told Tebow he would be starting, uh- I think that’s called LYING!!! A lie is a partial truth guys……

  100. You folks are commenting on a reporters observation, instead of creating news why don’t you all just wait for it to happen. That’s why we have a complete baffoon running this country right now. Say it and the sheeple will believe it!

  101. Where were the Broncos standing when Tebow started with them???? Nowhere. He needs to leave now to go where an owner will, at the very least, tell him the God’s-honest truth. It is evident now, he can not trust this owner to shoot straight and being the honest guy Tebow is, he deserves the truth, at the very least.

  102. So if Manning goes to Denver and Tebow leaves, does Tebow then become “Flee-Bow”?

#1. Holding a clipboard behind Peyton for a couple years would do Tebow a world of good. He should be more than excited for the opportunity.
    ========================
He’ll be traded to Jacksonville. They wont have a media circus around Tebow Time with Peyton in Denver.

  104. “Where were the Broncos standing when Tebow started with them???? Nowhere. He needs to leave now to go where an owner will, at the very least, tell him the God’s-honest truth. It is evident now, he can not trust this owner to shoot straight and being the honest guy Tebow is, he deserves the truth, at the very least.”–lexingtonrobert

What, exactly did the Broncos lie to Tebow about? They said they were going to bring in competition for the starting QB job. That’s what they’re trying to do.

The Broncos don’t owe Tebow a damn thing…….

  105. “I’ve done some research on other QB’s
And they’re “first” year stats. For example
John Elway 1983. Eleven starts with passing
Stats very eerily similar to Denver’s current
    “starting” QB.”–06jd

So were Kyle Orton’s stats, l suggest you start your comparison there…….

  106. “He did what he did with a rag tag group of receivers who dropped tons of passes. Elway made sure to trade away their best WR the game before he makes Tebow the starter. He stacked the decks against Tebow to do away with all the Bronco fans demanding he play. Guess what Elway looked like an ass. So do you with your statement that he isn’t that good. I’d take him over most NFL QB’s except maybe 4 or 5, because he is a gamer and gets it done.”–gators56

Please, the Broncos spent a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd on the WR’s that Tebow played with, the Broncos were fine at WR.

As for Brandon Lloyd, he demanded a trade the day Tebow was “promoted” and basically admitted that he didn’t want to play with Tebow at QB.

The fact that you’d take Tebow over all but 4-5 other QB’s tells us all exactly how seriously we should take your opinion. Either you don’t get Broncos game down there in Fla or you haven’t seen many NFL QB’s…….

Hey we didn’t ask for this whirlpool of BS, we were just fine til Hurricane Josh hit Denver…….

This is why you can’t let superstar ex players come in and play GM. They have the hubris to think that because they were good at playing the game being GM should be easy for them. Elway is a debacle as GM. Michael Jordan another perfect example.
    _______________________________

John Elway isn’t the GM, not that the GM thinks much of Tebow either…….

  109. Gravity – so you are saying that the group of receivers that Tebow had to work with last year were what??? Does spending a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round draft pick make them good WR? How do you come to a conclusion that taking a player in any round makes them good in the NFL? It doesn’t.

It certainly makes them young and unproven.

I stand by my statement that I would take Tebow over almost all other qb’s in the league except 5 or 6.

I also watched how the bronco’s continued to with a real crappy game plan. Yes at times he didn’t look so good, but dam you have a GM who has ZERO faith in you, a Coach that doesnt want to play you, a bunch of crappy (or as you might say Unproven) WR.

Tebow and some rookies on Defense really stepped up last year. And in doing so helped bolster others to play above the level they played with a sh!tty ass QB.

Bronco’s as an organization stink. They need to trade Tebow. Send him back east to Jax or the Fins. Then we can watch how the Bronco’s slip back into obscurity that is on par with Elway’s capabilities as a GM. Plus it will be fun to watch him ruin his legacy in Denver.

  110. If the Broncos sign Manning and trade or release Tim Tebow, it will be the biggest marketing fiasco since New Coke! I loved Elway as a player. As a Bronco Exec – not so much. First he hires a coach who without Tebow would have been maybe 3-13. Now he wants to get rid of the guy that saved the season and made Bronco football worth watching for the first time in 12 years. So let’s get rid of him for a guy that wants 18-54 mil guaranteed and is one hit away from career over.

  111. “UPDATE: Nicole Darin deleted her tweet after she was criticized by Tebow fans following her statement getting picked up by us, NFL.com and other sites.”

I think Nicky Darrin was the rattled one after t-bag let the white mamba out on her! Then she removed her tweet!

  112. Why are you idiots all attacking Tebow for being “rattled”. Tebow never said he was rattled. This is another case of a writer putting words in someone’s mouth.

Why doesn’t the writer say Tebow is “calm”? Only an insecure QB like Cutler or Brady Quinn would be rattled. Tebow has handled this like a man thus far and you got to give him props for not speaking out in frustration.

Tebow is smart enough to not say anything until the dust settles on this, and at that point, we all know Tebow will say the right thing.

“Rattled”? Really Michael David Smith? Did you see his hands shaking? Did he punch a wall?

    Bad journalism.

  113. I don’t follow Denver but absolutely cannot imagine how much negative energy folks have about Tim Tebow. I’m not a Christian myself but I believe in God and, I say, God bless Tim Tebow because he does a lot of good in this world.

Furthermore, I used to be a Peyton Manning fan but he’s getting seriously on my nerves. It seems like it’s all about Peyton Peyton Peyton. What about the QBs who don’t know what will happen to them? What about the wounded vets that are a casualty of the Peyton Show? Make up your damn mind, Peyton, or you won’t have any fans left.
