Rams brass indicated at a Wednesday press conference that it was in contract discussions with free agent defensive lineman Jason Jones. Coach Jeff Fisher said the Rams were optimistic about signing Jones, who visited club headquarters Tuesday night and into Wednesday.

Jones might be getting away. Worse for St. Louis, he could be going to a division rival.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that Jones has scheduled a free agent visit to the Seattle Seahawks, set for Thursday. The Seahawks need pass-rushing upgrades, and Jones can provide that in spades from the interior.

According to the PFT Hot 100, Jones is the fifth best player left in unrestricted free agency.

  1. It seems like every year the Titans lose at least one of their better defensive players to free agency, and still have a pretty decent defense…

They must scout really well for defensive players.

  2. this guy’s solid.. and a LOT cheaper than Mario.. I hope we sign him in Seattle

  3. Seattle should give Jones a serious look? He is big, athletic, not too old, durable and has some speed for size? Especially with the re-signing of Red Bryant who plugs up the running lanes quite nicely! Sign Jones and turn him loose on the opposition’s quarterbacks! That was one important piece Seattle’s defense has been lacking is the ability to pressure and sack the quarterback!

  4. Seattle has done nothing in free agency. They better get this guy. It would fill an immediate need. We lost Carlson. We need to pick up somebody. We have a load of cap space.
