Adam Caplan of Sirius NFL Radio reports that the Chiefs will host free agent tight end Kevin Boss at their club headquarters on Thursday.

The Chiefs wanted John Carlson earlier in the day, but they weren’t going to match the Vikings’ $25 million offer for a player who didn’t even play a snap in 2011.

Boss isn’t quite as athletic as Carlson, but he’s a much better blocker and could free up Tony Moeaki for a bigger role in Kansas City’s receiving game.
