Thanks for a record-shattering day

For the first time, the NFL launched a new league year at 4:00 p.m. ET, shifting the first eight hours of free agency from the low-traffic times of midnight until 8:00 a.m. ET.

Thank you, NFL, for doing it this way.

Not only did we shatter the single-hour traffic record, with 634,779 page views in the first 60 minutes of free agency, but we also took down the former single-day mark of 5.288 million page views.

The new record is 5.651 million.

Thanks very much to the 800,000-plus of you who visited PFT on Tuesday and checked out nearly seven pages each on average. Let’s do it again on Wednesday.

And Wednesday starts right now. Silva is taking the first half of the graveyard shift, and I’ll be back at 3:00 a.m., give or take. MDS will join the party at 6:00 a.m. or so.

We’ll then it all going at least for another 24 hours. Maybe longer.

After all, only 12 of the top 100 free agents have signed.
