Free agent Joe Mays visiting Saints, then Colts

AP

We previously mentioned that the Saints had shown interest in linebacker Joe Mays. ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports that Mays will visit the Saints on Saturday.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Mays is scheduled to visit the Colts after that. That is, if the Saints let him get out of town.

Mays is a stocky 5-foot-11, 246-pound inside linebacker. He’s a run stuffer. Both Indianapolis and New Orleans struggled to stop the run last season.

  1. Could you make it clear who all off these FA are? There postion and their previous team? Is that to much to ask for for complete journalism? Some of them are obvious but some not quite so

  2. It looks like the Saints are totally revamping the Defense. Could be because of possible bounty suspensions. Vilma and Shanle could be gone. Hae to lose Vilma, but Curtis Lofton would make the loss easier.

  3. Mays is a highlight reel thumper and can really bring the pain, but also gets lost in coverage and bites on everything. Good guy for sure, but he became a real liability and got exposed as the season went on.

  4. Colts are polar opposites of their former selves. Letting there own go (besides their cover 2 LBs back then) and bringing in free agents. The change is hard to sink in. 300lb Lineman!? In indy?!
